5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Evangelism Training
I used this to lead an evangelism class at our church. Everyone enjoyed it and found it helpful. The thing that I like about it is that it is a Biblically based approach. We had the classes on 4 Monday nights. I highly suggest getting the student book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Witnessing Teachers but Not for Everyone
Having used several of the "Way of the Master" materials, I have a great respect for this team led by Ray Comfort. This review is from: Conquer Your Fear, Share Your Faith: Evangelism Made Easy (Paperback)
Having used several of the "Way of the Master" materials, I have a great respect for this team led by Ray Comfort. Their videos are a great resource for evangelism and their method has been proven effective in witnessing. This book is essentially the same materials and is an easy read and a great challenge for our fervor for evangelism.
Just one critique that I would have for this material is that it seems that Comfort wants everyone to fit into his own extremely extroverted style of evangelism (which is mentioned again and again as standing on a box and preaching in a park). As Mike Bechtl points out in his book, "Evangelism for the Rest of Us", extreme extroverts and the methods of extreme extroverts is not the only method for evangelism. So while I greatly respect these authors and their proven work in evangelism, I would just offer the caution that an introvert might read this and feel rather guilty because they just weren't wired like Ray Comfort. The point is evangelism, not the style of one person vs. another.
I was challenged by this book to be more aware of opportunities to share Christ around me, so for that I recommend the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging, February 22, 2011

Easy read yet challenging method on how one is to share their faith. The author's passion for evangelism is evident. The method will not work for all but it is a VERY convicting book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Conquer your Fear, December 3, 2010

I read the book, and I come away with the thought that conquering my fear is about being (a) biblically prepared to share the scriptures that frame the 'law/penalty/grace' sequence that Ray Comfort promotes and (b) going out and doing it. Ray tells how he does face opposition and heckling but he keeps going. My own experience is that it is somewhat more comfortable sharing my faith to a group than to an individual. I also struggle with timing my approach to someone who may be otherwise busy with something. I do like Ray's opener question "What do you think happens to you after you die". I'd like to see more discussion starters that are similarly open-ended. I could have done without some of the guilt trip passages, but I understand the issue of urgency in evangelism.

5.0 out of 5 stars I did enjoy it, April 15, 2011

I once knew a man named Roy Comfort. He was a nice man and he smelled subtly of vinegar, but not in a bad way. He worked at a pickle factory and he said that even after he washed his hands there would be a lingering smell of pickles. He would even wash his hands in milk and that would help but every so often, or if you were in an embrace, you would get a whiff of it.

Now when I get an Italian Sub sandwich at a deli or maybe one of those chain sub shops I will think of Roy and the nights we spent together. Getting to know one another as people, opening up our souls to one another. Going places with each other that frankly I hadn't gone with anyone, like Orange Julius. Now that's a refreshing beverage!

Anyhoo, back to this book. It is definitely a challenge to tell how God has touched you when people do NOT want to hear it. That's not Ray's point. They MUST hear it or they will spend eternity in a fiery pit of place that some people call H-E double hockey sticks if you know what I mean.

I admire Ray's courage and his commitment to what he believes is true no matter how wrong it is and no matter how much money he wastes trying to proclaim it. He can do what he want, it's his money and time let him do what he wants and stop judging him and calling him names and saying how dumb he is and that he isn;t intelligent enough to understand how shallow his arguments are and how there is no proof for God. So what there's no proof of ghosts either and my cousin Tara swears that she was impregnated by a ghost. Her husband Dale was angry something fierce because he was in prison at the time she got knocked up and that's why a lot of people think Tara made up the ghost when actually she was seeing Reggie that birthday party DJ behind Dale's back. And when Dale got out his first stop was Reggie's house and they fought until the police came and Reggie didn't want no trouble so he didn't file no complaint. But Reggie left town about a week later and he ain't never come back and Tara had the baby and the baby was definitely Reggie's and Dale had just got to drinking and playing on the side, so that he just used Tara for her money and her car and didn't care much for the child-- who was the innocent victim in all this.
