5.0 out of 5 stars Diabetes Made Easy
This book simplifies so many aspects of Diabetes. I have shared it with my friends who have diabetes, someone I'm concerned may have it but hasn't been tested, and with family members so they can better understand my disease. Dr Peters is my hero. She is a great doctor, and this book clearly reveals her passion to help others live with Diabetes. I especially liked the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Too much bad advice about drugs that don't extend lives; opportunity missed
Sadly I don't share the enthusiasm of other reviewers, mainly because of the book's massive reliance on drugs, from blood sugar, blood pressure, anti-clot and cholesterol lowering drugs that have NEVER shown to extend the lives of diabetics.

Diabetes is a 'sugar' disease that is NOT caused by a lack of drugs that are proposed to "prevent or treat" or even...

5.0 out of 5 stars Diabetes Made Easy, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Conquering Diabetes: A Cutting-Edge, Comprehensive Program for Prevention and Treatment (Hardcover)
I especially liked the fact that she used her own patients throughout the book to illustrate that there is a very human side to being a diabetes patient, and to help you see that every little bit you do to educate yourself and put that information to work will make your life richer and healthier. A must read whether or not you have been diagnosed with Diabetes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truths From A Doctor Who Cares!, August 21, 2005
This review is from: Conquering Diabetes: A Cutting-Edge, Comprehensive Program for Prevention and Treatment (Hardcover)
The author of this book is certainly the most knowleable person you could find to write such a work. Dr. Anne Peters is one of the top twenty physicians treating diabetes in America. Her work stretches from shore to shore in our country, and her experience is unmatched in this area.

I could tell immediately that this doctor had a true concern for those who are battling diabetes; it is evident in her every word and shines through the pages.
In her work she shares some of the causes, stories of those who are winning over this enemy and some of those who have lost. She shares with us treatments being used, unwise things people do, and hope for the future with research. We learn what foods to eat, what to avoid. Which medications will help and which will hurt and also the questions and concerns we should be sharing with out doctor to better our treatment program. Many do not fully understand the danger that their disease puts them in until it is too late. This book covers just about any topic you need to know, and it is done in an easy to understand, sensible way.
I recommend this book for all those who are faced with diabetes, or are helping someone they love deal with the disease.
It is a work that is brimming with useful information and hope from a doctor who cares and knows her business. That is quite comforting and reassuring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must reading for anyone with diabetes, October 18, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Conquering Diabetes: A Cutting-Edge, Comprehensive Program for Prevention and Treatment (Hardcover)
I am a physician who frequently treats patients with diabetes. Among the many popular and professional books I've read on diabetes, this is perhaps the best. It is written to be understood by anyone with highschool education, yet is extremely informative--I even learned a number of things from it! I would strongly encourage anyone with diabetes to read it--and plan to stock it in my clinic.

Dr. Peters--you have done a great service with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read, May 24, 2005
This review is from: Conquering Diabetes: A Cutting-Edge, Comprehensive Program for Prevention and Treatment (Hardcover)
I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 1999. I've done a great deal of reading on the subject, but Dr Anne Peters makes it simple. This should be called "Diabetes for Dummies"! This book should be a mandatory read for anyone with the disease.

5.0 out of 5 stars If only I had this book sooner, April 29, 2005
This review is from: Conquering Diabetes: A Cutting-Edge, Comprehensive Program for Prevention and Treatment (Hardcover)
When I was diagnosed with diabetes I read everything I could get my hands on to educate myself. I ended up more confused than ever and in the wrong doctor's hands over and over. I wish every person with diabetes could be blessed, as I now am, to work with the amazing Dr. Anne Peters. Since that is not going to happen I cannot stress how fortunate we are to have this book available. A must read for anyone with diabetes or who knows someone who has it. She really is the best. This is an extremely important book.

This is an excellent, complete, factual, encouraging, and easy to read book on all aspects of the various types of diabetes. It includes pre-diabetes and how to avoid becoming a diabetic if you are a pre-diabetic. The author is a very sympathetic person and very helpful to anyone with problems related to diatetes. I would recommend it to anyone! Be sure to have a doctor check your blood sugar before it is too late, especially if you are heavy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough and Extremely Helpful, May 27, 2005

This review is from: Conquering Diabetes: A Cutting-Edge, Comprehensive Program for Prevention and Treatment (Hardcover)
I read this book with joy at how Anne Peters brings the most comprehensive advice about diabetes that takes a lot of the guesswork and questions out of the equation, and replaces it with real answers that are extremely beneficial.
Diabetes can be a confusing debilitating disease, but it doesn't have to be, it is entirely treatable, manageable, and can be kept under control.
I have seen firsthand both the crippling effects of this disease, as well as how people that do receive the proper guidance and treatment from top endocrinologists live healthy, productive lives. Anne Peters is a remarkable pioneer in this field, and her book is an excellent contribution for taking proper care and control of diabetes.

This book is a good one for persons recently diagnosed with diabetes who wish to learn more about the disease and its various forms and how it can be treated. I enjoyed the sections about what diabetes is in the body and current therapies for treatment, especially the available drugs used for treatment, how they work and how and when they may be used.

4.0 out of 5 stars On conquering diabetes by Dr. Anne Peters, July 22, 2005
This review is from: Conquering Diabetes: A Cutting-Edge, Comprehensive Program for Prevention and Treatment (Hardcover)
If you hace been diagnosed with diabetes either type 2 or type 1 you might get scared by its name, because you have adquired a sickness for the rest of your life. Dr. Peters puts the dots over the ies about this sickness and condition of life. After reading it you'll know where you stand and learn that if you do a regular exercise, not killing yourself, take care of your eating habits and take the appropiate pills you can pass through the rest of your life with ease if you have diabetes 2, thar is adult diabetes. From time to time you may indulge yourself in your favorite pasta or other delicatessen but remembering to not eat daily bread and rice and potatoes and dessert, but perhaps one or two of them in a small quantity. Of course junk food is ruled out!
I think it is a must reading for anyone diagnosted with diabetes. It has helped me a lot.
