Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

These consultants at Stratics Group deftly outline the entire process of large-scale structural changes such as mergers, downsizing and hiring freezes. They also cover possible triggers to change; training employees to do their jobs differently and judging the effectiveness of a change. Unfortunately, the case studies are lackluster, and the inadvertent or deliberate roles individual employees can play in sabotaging efforts at change are given extremely short shrift. But with countless checklists and lists of positive and negative factors that managers should keep in mind, it's a good, impartial resource for keeping projects on track and double-checking that steps have been followed. 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to digest "Change Management" Strategies/Methodologies, November 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Conquering Organizational Change: How to Succeed Where Most Companies Fail (Paperback)
The premise of the text, which was based on a solid survey design, was excellant. The writing was clean and straight forward. Very digestable in one or two sittings with key points/graphics jumping off the pages with easy reference for future useage.

The tactics used as piece parts of an overall change stratgy enhance the readers ability to plan for undesirable events that inevitably occur in a change management environment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Conquering Organizational Change, November 2, 2001
This review is from: Conquering Organizational Change: How to Succeed Where Most Companies Fail (Paperback)
This is the first book I've come across that offers step-by-step guidance and real advice on how to reap the potential rewards of organizational change over the long term. Unlike most books on the subject, which require mental contortions to convert theory into reality, Conquering Organizational Change is eminently practical and based on hard data about what works and what doesn't work. It takes its own advice of "think small" to transform the often daunting and chaotic prospect of organizational change into a manageable, feasible and attainable effort.

It's a must-read for everyone in business today who wants to continue being in business tomorrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally something substantial on Change Management, February 7, 2002

This review is from: Conquering Organizational Change: How to Succeed Where Most Companies Fail (Paperback)
Excellent descriptions of the challenges associated with a major change effort in organizations. Practical advice with checklists to guide managers. Best and most practical book I've read. This book offers not only what you need to do to manage a major change effort, but also provides tactics on how to resurrect a change effort that is stalled - great advice.

Mourier and Smith provide real-life advice, obviously learned from years of practical application of these tactics. This book is "real-world" - not just philosophy and theory.
