More About the Author

Despite finding time to write historical novels and The Dangerous Book for Boys, Conn Iggulden is in some ways better known as a trainer of Tollins. His Tollin troupe, "Small and Mighty," are famous in Tasmania, where they often play to packed houses. "It used to be just a hobby," he says, "but when you've seen a display of Tollin synchronized flying, you realize it's your life's work. Also, they can be transported in shoe boxes, so it's pretty cheap to get around."

I am a little over 50% through and cannot put it down. What a story. As usually happens after I read a historical novel, I thirst for knowledge of the historical characters. If only my history teachers knew this when I studied history in school I might have achieved more than just a passing grade at the the best of times. The encounters with the "Chin" and the Arabs and the Russians are also intriguing. What is clear though, is that Genghis brought new technology and strategy into the practice of war. His opponents clearly were not ready for his swiftness of moving thousands of men vast distances and attacking at the end of it, accuracy of archery, and of armoured men and horse. The ferocity of the Mongel horsemen must have been nightmarish for their enemies. The Khan was butal though, with enemy and his own people; unfortunately a recurring theme in human history. For the moment my read of the story is unfinished, but I will 'grip' my kindle shortly and return to the era. I will also seek other Iggulden stories after this. He is up on the shelf now with my favourites: Michener, Uris, Herbert, Tolkien....

Kudos to the publishers of this bundled ebook. My first eEperiences with Kindle books was very disappointing, but this book is clearly the result of attention to detail when converting from print to digital. No distractions! Thanks Amazon.

Before starting to read the series, I did not have any idea how unique the story of Genghis Khan and his bloodline was. Conn Iggulden has written a terrific story that you just want to keepmon reading until the whole series is finished. One caveat though - I suspect that the series appeal to the male audience the most

I had already read the first three books and then bought the set of five. I read all five and got as much enjoyment in re-reading the first three and enjoyed the last two as well. Best reading, smooth flowing from book to book, it also includes historical facts which are real eye openers.

Conn Iggulden has created a gripping and eye-opening account of the life and legacy of Genghis Khan. Not only is the reality of his achievements mind-blowing, Iggulden's ability to spin history and story-telling together makes it a truly enriching read.

I've read Simon Scarrow's Centurion Series and thoroughly enjoyed them. Con Iggulden's Conqueror series was every bit as good. Can't wait to read his next series.

Great easy read. A lot of detail, long series but enjoyable and entertaining to read with some great fiction added to the overall story
