I love this series, but this book left me cold. After all that build up,then nothing.Cam and Kara's conflict was so anticlimactic that I was left wondering what Jaid Black was thinking.Kara kisses Cam's feet, then they kinda talk, and then everythings better.Huh?I don't know about you but I'm not buying it.Than there was Jek's story.Funny, yes anything after that, no...

Trek Mi Q'an 5 - No Fear
Mousy, modern day librarian Brynda Mitchell doesn't lead a very exciting life... yet.

I have to say I reccamend this book to any and all who have been reading the Trek Mi Q'an series. Jaid Black breathes a world of life onto the pages of her novels. Books 4&5 of this series are connected with her previes books of the series, so you must have AT LEAST read book 1-"The Empress' New Clothes"(5 stars!), book 2-"No Mercy"(5 stars!!), and book 3-"Enslaved"(5 stars!!!). All of these novels are incredibly steamy, with a great sense of humor, and an even better plot line. I loved it! And im sure you will too.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Easy and Interesting Read, January 7, 2005

This particular book contains two shorter stories: "No Escape" and "No Fear". After reading "The Empress' New Clothes", I didn't have high expectaions for other stories in this series. I was pleasantly surprised. In addition to Kara and Brynda'a stories, the mystery of Kyra's long lost sister(introduced in the first novel) was further explored. In many ways, "Conquest" developed the stories' characters more thoroughly than Ms. Black was able to do in her longer novels, and for the first time, (especially in "No Fear") it wasn't just one lusty scene after another, but instead the romance aspect seemed to be in the spotlight. I would recommend "Conquest" and will make an attempt at other novels in the Trek MiQ'an series.

5.0 out of 5 stars MMM MMM Good! Where's the next one?, December 11, 2004
This review is from: Conquest: Trek Mi Q'an Books Four and Five: No Escape and No Fear (Paperback)
Trek Mi Q'an is such a great series. It brings the sexy like few other romantica writers do. She has a great way of keeping multiple storylines afloat while introducing new characters and conflicts. She also handles the whole Dom male-romance thing well. Her men are dominant but caring, strong but loving, and they LISTEN. Her books are a tribute to strong women, tough men, and the great relationships that happen between them.

Is it wrong to hope that a manly giant takes ME away???

5.0 out of 5 stars Oooh! What happens next?, February 13, 2005
This review is from: Conquest: Trek Mi Q'an Books Four and Five: No Escape and No Fear (Paperback)
I just got this book and I loved it! The thing I love about Jaid Black is not only does she write very sensual books, they're also extremely readable. This one in particular was great because the plot almost (but not quite) over shadowed the sex. Outstanding! Any book that makes the heart pound AND stimulates the mind is an automatic 5 stars in my book. I won't restate the plot because other reviewers have done such a great job of that. But if you want an interesting and sexy read, BUY THIS BOOK!

The whole story was almost a waste. If it wasn't for the parts about the family I would have skiped it.All in all the sex was hot, but more of the same.It was all very disappointing.

This book includes two stories, rated 4 stars. Even though some books are better than others, I love the Trek series. It is a wild and fun escape. I recommend reading them in order. For a list of all the Trek books, see my 5 star review of "The Empress' New Clothes" posted 3/11/08.

4 stars for NO ESCAPE.
This story has several stories in process, to be continued in the next book. The primary story is about Kara fleeing from Cam because she wanted some independent time before she married. He initially thought she was dead, but as soon as he heard she was alive, five years later, he was able to hunt her and find her. Separate stories begin about Dari fleeing her future husband while learning about and how to stop the evil one. Jana mates with Yorin who takes her to his ice planet. Kari continues to flee from Death and helps Dari.

4 stars for NO FEAR.
The main story is about Jek and Brynda, but several side stories are happening which will be continued in the next books. In this story, Jek finds his Sacred Mate Brynda who is a librarian in Texas. She has cancer and expects to die within the year. Jek takes her and they visit two planets on their way to his home. They visit Wassa where men have gills and live both underwater and above water. All females are slaves to the men on this planet. They next visit Dementia, where the men look like ape men from the movie Planet of the Apes. Brynda gets caught by the predatory vine which injects an aphrodisiac into her and drinks her fluids.

I can't understand why this book is getting such good reviews. It was funny. I like books with a lot of sex and romance in them but this one seemed to lack the romance to me. The sex scenes were a little to volgur for my taste. I definately won't be running to get another book from this series. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because it made me laugh.
