5.0 out of 5 stars Burst does no wrong, February 14, 2006

If you're looking at this review, you are probably already a fan of Burst. You're probbaly like me, a big fan of the amazing "Origo" and "Prey on Life" releases, and wondering how this one stacks up. I'm not going to write a detailed review, because I've only just received the album; but I will say that "Conquest: Writhe" is definitely a worthy addition to your Burst collection.

This album documents a young band poised for great things. I think if I had heard this album first, I would have had the same impression that I had after hearing "Prey on Life"...that i couldn't wait to hear what these guys would come up with next. "Conquest: Writhe" is more raw than either of the albums to follow, but still displays all the elements that make Burst such a great band. The production isn't as polished as "Prey on Life," which in my opinion is a good thing.

For some strange reason, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this album as much as I've enjoyed the rest of Burst's material. I'm glad I picked it up, the album is fantastic. Hopefully this band will see more success, and this overlooked album will see better distribution. For the time being, you can get it from relapse records. Don't pay ridiculous prices to independent sellers, this album is readily available on other sites.

5.0 out of 5 stars burst kicks ass !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, June 3, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Conquest: Writhe (Audio CD)
this band is one of and maybe even the best band in the metalcore scene today!I mean,C'mon, metalcore is'nt that great of a genre, there's a few good bands here and there, but most of the time I am dissapointed with this genre. But Burst changes my whole perspective on this genre,I strive to find a band as good as Burst in this genre.they have dark melodic riffs to soft and slower paced songs.there new cd is awesome, this one is'nt as good, but it still kicks ass!!!!!hey,if you know anything about their import on this site called "Custogfhust"or something like that, write it in a review, because I want to hear more of Burst, but that cd has no song samples or anything and I can't find any of their music from that cd on my downloading sites.on their website,(www.Burst.nu),they have a discography list and that cd is'nt on it.so If you have it or heard it or know anything about it,please put in a review for this cd,(Conquest:Writhe//in Coveting Ways)and I will check up on it in a while.here are some other kick ass bands in the metalcore genre :avenged sevenfold, atreyu,as I lay dying, thrice(not metalcore, more of post hardcore or whatever, but they are probably my favorite band, ever)Oh,and i ain't a kid either, just to let you know.Im just lazy.I can't this band is so underground, their much better than many of the mainstream metalcore bands, but alot of good bands are underground.oh,back to the bands,:a static lullaby, benton falls(indie, amazing band),giveuptheghost(hardcore)the bled, poison the well, and many others, too many to name.peace!

4.0 out of 5 stars Disharmonic chaos with melodic parts, January 19, 2002
This review is from: Conquest: Writhe (Audio CD)
This is the latest release from this swedish band. I got to say that I've heard their earlier stuff and this blows it away. I can tell that they have matured since the last cd. It's a mix between metal and hardcore but never tends to fall away from the really important thing. The anger and the frustration in the music. The musicianship is great and I can hear a mix between bands like Emperor, Neurosis and Kiss it Goodbye. But with more melodic parts. The cd also contains a remix by Merzbow which is kinda strange for a hardcore group. But I can't say that Burst is a hardcore band. It seems like they put together all their favourit bands, put them into a blender and out comes the result. 10 great songs which screems of agression, despair and hope for the future. This is a great band that only seems to get better
