A must for any Conrail enthusiast -prototype or modeler!!!!!,

This book is an excellent resource, especially for modelers trying to recreate one the the most historic events in railroading.

Take note this book is available as either a softbound (paperback) or hardbound edition -- I have the latter. It's a pretty good book covering Conrail's early motive power era, but keep in mind it suffers from "Volumitis". This was "Volume 1" of a planned two-volume set, alas the second volume was never published. Conrail's locomotives covered during this period are those numbered from #1000-5593, everything else was supposed to be in Vol. 2. It would be nice to see the second volume released someday, just don't hold your breath. Still, it's another good book for those interested in Conrail's varied and diverse fleet of locomotives prior to 1986, which is where Withers Publishing's Conrail 1986-1991 Motive Power book picks-up.
