Pretty pictures, great ideas,

Well, I've never gone to amazon and submitted a review, but I felt compelled to after reading Conscious Style. I am renovating my 19th century farmhouse and found great, simple tips in this book we are using RIGHT NOW! Bamboo flooring is great. Recycled glass tile is amazing. Toxic-free paints have no odor! My only complaint is that there aren't enough color photos...but the 200 photos are beautiful.

The Conscious Style Mind,

This review is from: Conscious Style Home: Eco-Friendly Living for the 21st Century (Hardcover)
For people who want to understand what conscious living is all about, this book is a great start. And there are some tips for those in the eco industry too. I didn't know, for example, that about half of marble mined is wasted. That is because marble lies deep in the earth and it is destroyed by machinery to retrieve it. Danny points out that a marble pastry rolling pin can be justified, but a marble floor too is a bit much. A case of less is more. The reason I believe the beginning lacked enthusiasm for me was because of the subject matter being cleaning and sorting. I'd rather read fun stuff or see pictures first. Then there happen to be some opinions I didn't agree with. Choosing synthetics over real leather, for example. I really don't look to Danny as an eco guru, but then he's not trying to be. It's just about what the title reads, "Conscious Style." Once you get the hang of it, you use your own particular earth-friendly fashion. I hope this book is inspiring for many because mindful decor is a good thing for everybody.

If you really want to change the world...,
By Abbey Scott (Cincinatti) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conscious Style Home: Eco-Friendly Living for the 21st Century (Hardcover)
I have to say that I care about the planet, I want to do my part, but feel there are so many hardcore green people who say, "you either do it all the way or not at all."Well, I disagree. This book is so perfect....while you want to make a difference and help the planet, you don't wanna live in a hut. The photos are really inspirational and I got lots of clever ideas from it. Good job!!

A well organized, very revolutionary book!,

This book rocks! I recently purchased a home in upstate New York and wanted to do simple renovations to the kitchen, gardens and bathroom. I didn't have a tremendous amount of moolah to spend, but I did want to make changes. I realize this book is all about saving the planet and incorporating green building products....but there are sooooooo many tips in here to decorate, renovate and change on a dime!!! It's very very clever...I love it!

Helped me Create a Conscious Style Home,
By A Customer
This review is from: Conscious Style Home: Eco-Friendly Living for the 21st Century (Hardcover)
I bought this book last year when I started the renovation process on my home. I have always wanted to do the right thing in home design, but didn't really know what the "right" thing is.One of the things that I found really useful in this book was that it wasn't about building a home from scratch. It also didn't have weird green building ideas I kept seeing in other books---like straw insulation. I realize that it's very green to use straw bales...but, c'mon, I already have insulation in the walls! What am I supposed to use? There really is a wealth of ideas and resources in the book. Who would've thought moving the fridge a few inches away from the wall could make it so much more energy efficient? I highly recommend this book to all who care about our planet.

Eco Friendly Living has come a long way, baby,
By A Customer

When my first child was born, I was concerned about keeping a clean home without using harsh chemicals. I picked up Conscious Style Home to see if there were ideas how I could do that. What's refreshing about this book is that the author doesn't keep lamenting what's wrong with the frickin' world...he just gives ideas. I highly recommend this book.

Well Balanced,
By The Batman (Palo Alto, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conscious Style Home: Eco-Friendly Living for the 21st Century (Hardcover)
Just as one of the implicit themes in this book is keeping everything well balanced, the book too, is well balanced. Mr. Seo manages to brew a richly roasted blend of humor, sensible ideas, updated recycling facts and most importantly, readability. As a person who has long struggled with ADD, a book that can keep my attention is a rare find. I was also surprised to discover that many things I was taught about recycling and the environment are simply no longer true. It certainly opened my eyes more and taught this old monkey some new tricks.

Okay, I don't know about the rest of you, but not only was this book full of a lot of easy DIY ideas that I've been doing.. but it's was kinda funny, too. There is this whole chapter on getting a good night's sleep... and Danny recommends creating "white noise" which he promptly says "no, not Paula Abdul.."
I didn't expect to chuckle so much reading this.. but I did. I loved loved loved it. It's going into my permanent library of home books...!

A truly useful primer on eco living,
This review is from: Conscious Style Home: Eco-Friendly Living for the 21st Century (Hardcover)
I recently purchased an older home and had the daunting task of putting together a "to do" list of renovations I wanted done to it. This being my third home, I wanted to try to do things in an eco-friendly manner. Okay, I admit, I have no idea what I'm doing... so I purused on amazon and bought this book. It truly is jam packed with ideas and info... I think I found something helpful on every page... If you are planning to makeover a house or renovate a room, here's a realistic way to do it.
