All three volumes of these are brilliant, hauntingly so given the circumstance, not to mention the sheer elegance and technical proficiency found in this greatest minor-key expressionist of modern Jazz piano. Obviously the various boxed sets are the way to go if the option is available and the desire is there, because the playing certainly is. Despite all odds against this ivory titan, one knows the moment Consecration begins they are getting into something starkly brilliant as witness to this genius curtain call-you're liable to never hear a more focused swan song again.
