Maggie Logan finally feels she is getting her life in order. A veterinarian in a small New Hampshire town, Maggie not only has her own practice, but she is raising her 10-year-old grandson, Tad, ever since his parents were killed. Tad, unfortunately, has a disease that will eventually leave him completely blind. To that end, Maggie is determined to help him become self-sufficient by sending him to a school where they train with guide dogs. It has not been easy for Maggie, but her determination seems to be winning out. Then she is served with an eviction notice. Tyler King has inherited the building where Dr. Logan has her practice and he has been living off her rent checks each month. Now, so he won't have to find a job, he has decided to turn the building into a fitness center. Maggie is unaware that her original landlord, Tyler's father, has been missing for some time, nor is she aware that the golden retriever that has been coming to her Pet Care facility every summer belongs to Tyler. She and Tad have grown fond of Caesare, and when Maggie finally meets Tyler she finds she is quite fond of him as well, regardless of their circumstances.
