Upon first inspection, this looks to be one of those albums by some no name artist that will get skipped over in the record store. Oddly enough a few of the tracks on here may seem familiar and sound a little like the band Omnisoul. They should since it's the same band. They changed their name. Hopefully it doesn't get skipped over. On with the review.
Since I heard "Waiting (Save Your Life)" from the Fantastic 4 soundtrack I have been hooked to Crash Motive (then Omnisoul). The singer's voice is powerful but not overbearing and that sincerity you don't find in a lot of rock/pop hybrids. Usually it is a whiney sound (ala Yellowcard, All American Rejects) or good vocals with too much pop and not enough rock (Maroon 5). These guys have found a good niche if you will.
Solid instrumentation on all of the tracks as well make this a must buy if you like rock music with a dash of that pop all the kids listen to. "Waiting (Save Your Life)", "Not Giving Up", and "No Tomorrow, Just Tonight" are the stand out tracks, but they all flow very well and make for a great sounding album. There isn't a bad track on here, though a few awkward ones do pop up towards the end.
My only issue with this album and the band for that matter is the lack of publicity and defining characteristics. There was no hype for this album (probably in Deleware, but not the rest of the country). Also the name sounds like another emo band from Victory Records and will keep a lot of people from picking it up I'm sure.
Not a perfect album, but definitely worth a listen. I hope these guys get a chance to do a second album. I see lot of potential from what I've heard on this album. I had to drop a star for the last two tracks though due to the fact they were "awkward" for the lack of a better term. Highly recommended though.
