Editorial Reviews

Review

"Published in the familiar black, hard cover format of the BH collection on conservation, this book is truly the jewel in the crown of that series. .a remarkable source of information on everything I always wanted to know, From the history of furniture and conservation to the mixing of isinglass and the cleaning of marble and if I want to know more, the extensive bibliographies at the end of each section will tell me where to go. If I owned only one book this would be the one.
Not only is it comprehensive, it is also eminently enjoyable to read."
Conservation News

"The book contains over 800 pages covering every aspect of furniture design and construction and probably every material used throughout the very full history of furniture making, conservation and restoration.I believe this book should be essential reading in all college courses on furniture restoration and that every professional furniture conservator-restorer should have a copy readily to hand."

This review is from: Conservation of Furniture (Butterworth-Heinemann Series in Conservation and Museology) (Hardcover)
This book is an immensely useful reference for the treatment of a diverse range of materials and objects. It has sections on adhesives and coatings as well. A solid reference for the objects conservator; I keep coming back to it again and again. A bit pricey, but worth it.
