Book Description

"A 2012 campaign must-read" -- Michelle Malkin, bestselling author of Culture of Corruption.

"(M)ight be one of the most important books of the year. -- Matt Lewis, the Daily Caller.

Mitt Romney has secured the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. But in a provocative new book, Washington Examiner senior editorial writer Philip Klein argues that this is no time for conservatives to reflexively fall in line behind him. Conservatives embraced a team mentality when Republicans last held power under President Bush and the size and scope of government exploded as a result. With an unsustainable welfare state propelling the nation toward an inevitable fiscal crisis, the United States cannot afford for this to happen again. It is one thing for conservatives to vote for Romney over the much worse President Obama, but it’s another thing to refrain from criticizing him when he does violence to conservative principles.

Klein delves into what makes Romney tick and explores how conservatives can take advantage of his infamous calculating nature to ensure that he governs from the right if elected. The book takes lessons from the conservative failures of the Bush years and details how subsequent developments, from the Tea Party to Twitter, can make a difference this time around. Drawing on his experience as a leading conservative policy journalist, Klein also outlines a limited government agenda that conservatives should be striving for in a potential Romney administration. Whether the “Romney era” lasts for just a few months or a long eight years, conservatism will only survive if those who believe in a limited role for government stay true to their values.

5.0 out of 5 stars PROVOCATIVE & ENGAGING FOR ALL May 23, 2012
By Bruce

I didn't know what to expect, but WOW! This work is a clear, concise cri di coeur by an extremely insightful journalist/opinion writer. His overview of conservative ideas is smart and punchy...his predictions and prescriptions for the conservative movement are extremely thought provoking. It's also a work that is provocative and engaging for all sides of the political spectrum. Lefties will learn a lot about how conservatives really think -- and what could be in store in November and beyond if conservatives take Klein's advice. Also, I think Lefties who read it will simply be sharper next time they debate their righty friends (also fascinating for liberals: Klein completely eviscerates Bush's economic policies...but from the conservative POV!). On the other hand, Righties will love the clarity of the ideas -- and will be re-inspired by their core values and reminded "why they believe what they believe." Whether you agree with Klein or not, if you're even half interested in the upcoming election, I can't imagine you wouldn't be drawn into this provocative work of both theoretical and practical politics. A sort of modern conservative COMMON SENSE. Bottom line: an absolute MUST READ in this election year -- and totally worth the $2.99.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read! May 23, 2012

Klein's short and incisive ebook prepares conservatives for a potential Romney presidency. His arguments are well reasoned and provide a primer for the likely Republican vs. Conservativs showdown. A must read indeed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Overtaken by Events but still some good suggestions January 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought the ebook before the election with the hopes that conservatives could develop increased influence with a Romney Administration. Obviously, the election didn't go our way but the book still contains useful field-level guidence.

Looking forward to future works by the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, someone makes sense of all this May 24, 2012
By Paul
Format:Kindle Edition
Phil Klein brings a new clear new voice to a too often misunderstood perspective. Yes, he's a right-winger, but he's also not a moron, which makes him even an even more important voice for his generation. If you have been watching this year's primary cycle, and trying to make sense of it, you finally have a talanted writer who put's it all in focus. If you only read one book on Conservatives in the Romney Era, make it this one!

Klein is a writer for the far-right, journalistically-challenged Washington Examiner. He's not on anyone's short list of the Beltway's finest journalists and this ebook will show you why. A work of truly lazy hackery, endorsed by brain-dead Foxbot Michelle Malkin. If you are looking for actual factual political writing, look someplace else.
