5.0 out of 5 stars The Sweetest Music, June 6, 2004

I love this CD. My family and I listened to it over and over and over again, during the last few weeks of my mother's life. It has been a comfort to me in time of sorrow. Now it brings tears every time I listen to it. This music is like loving arms around me. It touches my soul. I've given so many away, I should have bought a case of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peaceful, beautiful and inspirational., April 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Consider the Lilies (Audio CD)
First off, I have to admit that I received a copy of this a few days early, because I'm part of the Choir and took part in recording this project. Having just heard it, I'm thrilled by how it turned out.

This is the first CD released on the brand new "Mormon Tabernacle Choir" record label. For those of you who have purchased the recent Telarc CD's, the sound here is a little thicker; it sounds more like sitting and hearing the choir in the Taberncle on Temple Square, whereas the Telarc CD's had a "drier" sound.

But the music is where this CD shines. Each song is an affirmation of life and hope. There are several new arrangements by Barlow Bradford and Mack Wilberg, the associate directors of the choir, and almost every piece is accompanied by the superb Orchestra at Temple Square. The booklet that joins the CD is also very nice: full lyrics are included, along with gorgeous pictures of lilies throughout, and the words of the Savior interspersed on each page. Personally, I have a hard time choosing a favorite song; I love each and every song that we recorded for this release. (Trivia note: also recorded for this CD, but not included was John Tavener's "The Lamb," which hopefully will show up somewhere, since it is stunning.)

Find a quiet time to listen to it; read the lyrics as you listen. I promise you that you will feel a sweet, peaceful spirit in this music.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my new all-time-favorite CD!, April 22, 2004

I bought this CD because I had heard "My Shepherd Will Supply My Need" once and loved it. But it's just one of the many beautiful songs on this CD. I'm at a loss to describe what joy this music brings to me each time I listen to it. I carry it from house to car and back again so I can enjoy it wherever I am. I've given away several "Consider the Lilies" CD's to friends and relatives, something I've never done before. Anyone who is facing a serious challenge in life will be uplifted and comforted by this ethereal music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful music for a quiet Sunday, June 15, 2003

I absolutely love this cd! I received it as a gift from a family member who works closely with the choir and I couldn't be more thrilled with it. I'm a big fan of John Rutter and there are several arrangements of his on it, my very favorite being the first song - For the Beauty of the Earth. I sang this while I was in a specialty children chorus as a child and it's been my favorite ever since. If you enjoy soothing and inspirational music, this is the cd for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great recording at just the right time, April 1, 2003

I believe this CD was released to coincide with Easter. But with the current situation in Iraq it's timing is particularly appropriate. All of the songs on this recording convey a message of hope and comfort that is so desparately needed right now. Who better to convey such a message than a choir that has been lifting the hearts of thousands for many generations. This is a recording that will be treasured for many years to come.

Our church choir sang a few of these songs which I loved, so I decided to order it. It is a very sweet, gentle, inspiring collection of music. Many times when you get a CD, you are fortunate to find 2-4 on there that you really like enough to play regularly. But on this one, every song is wonderful. This music is so spiritually uplifting and peaceful that you will want to play it regularly. Some if may bring some tears it is so beautiful. John Rutter has a way with this type of music. You will probably want to be giving some of these cd's away to those you love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for bringing a child into this world, December 21, 2005
This review is from: Consider the Lilies (Audio CD)
I had this CD on while in labor with my last child. We had a wonderful homebirth and what better then to have the spirit in our home with this music as we welcomed a brand new baby. It helped me relax and helped the birth be peaceful, calm, and spiritual.

I just had to comment on this work of art. I am not Mormon, but I love the words and the Christian message given on this CD. It has ravished my heart. I rate it 10+ stars. Words can't describe how beautiful it really is.
