This is an outstanding CD. Ramsey Lewis switches from one style/mood/tempo to the next effortlessly. When you listen, it makes you feel as if you're sitting in his living room and Ramsey is just flitting from one song to the next on a whim, just for the sheer joy of playing. Every time I play this one, I wish I'd done it sooner. CanNOT go wrong with this CD!!

The Best of Ramsey's Early Work,

"Consider the Source" is a perfect sampler of Ramsey Lewis' first three LPs. In addition to sampling "Ramsey Lewis and His Gentlemen of Jazz" and "Ramsey Lewis and His Gentlemen of Swing," this disc also includes the 6 worthwhile songs from his otherwise weak third album "An Hour with the Ramsey Lewis Trio." This is solid, straight-ahead jazz piano with brief hints of the driving rhythms and soulful grooves that would soon become his trademark. Buy this disc - you won't be disappointed.
