5.0 out of 5 stars ABBIE HOFFMAN LIVES!, March 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Conspiracy: The Trial of the Chicago 8 (DVD)
This film has historic value, as it was written from the actual court records. It was made in cooperation with the original Chicago 8. The film documents the insanity of this particular trial, highlighting the in-court binding and gagging of Black Panther activist Bobby Seale. It confronts the injustices of our legal system with unflinching hilarity. This film is a must see for every American, as it will force the viewer to question all assumptions about Constitutional law.

A very well acted movie. It combines dialogue from the actual trial transcripts with interviews with most of the main participants. I highly recommend it.

This review is from: Conspiracy: The Trial of the Chicago 8 (DVD)
Those of you who enjoyed the 60's with all it's counterculture, radicalism, and craziness should not miss this gem of a movie.

I saw this (i believe in 1989) on HBO and waited for the day i could own it. I was a late bloomer when it came to computers, so it wasn't until 2011 that i found it on Amazon.

This movie/play/documentary shows the case of the City of Chicago vs the CHICAGO 8 for conspiracy to riot during the 1968 Democratic Convention.

The movie has excellent acting along with the actual Chicago 8 narrating. All the lines and events are taken from the actual court records along with real footage of the activities which were taking place on the streets.

This movie was expensive, but after the long wait it was worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An eye-opening shocker, December 30, 2009
This review is from: Conspiracy: The Trial of the Chicago 8 (DVD)
I saw this documentary when it first came out and it made a huge impact on me. Imagine going on trial for a crime you really didn't commit and then to be bound and gagged when you don't "play by the rules" in a rigged courtroom!
This really is a must see DVD yet it has been discontinued! Strange, don't you think? All part of that "freedom" thing, I guess. Now if you want to buy it you need to fork over 4 to 5 times more than the going price for a old documentary. THE SYSTEM!
