A Captivating Record That Should Never Be Overlooked,

I have recommended this cd to many people. Figuring that I never tire from expressing my sentiments, why not bring it out to the mecca that is "amazon.com"?If I could play with any drummer in modern music today, it would be Alex Cline. A master of subtlety, and a great fan of music in general (as is evidenced by each piece shaping itself around a virtual tribute), Alex not only sites great influences, but great artists of our time. I tell all who tend to let the nature of sound whiz by a little too quickly to take a moment, and spend a few moments meditating on each track - just one track per day. I am confident that with this record people might advance their ability to listen, actually experience sensation from more angles than thought possible, and clearly see the relationship this music carries throughout the history of our kind. "The Contant Flame" is a light revealing consciousness, a hope for an exceedingly dark and horrific 'present', relevant to humans all over our surface. Experience a wonderful community of musicians, a consistently exciting and yet modest record label, and beautiful work in the studio (Peter Erskine supervises; the engineering is, at times, both bewildering and amazing). Not what I expected,

I have been getting into the music of Alex Cline's brother Nels and decided to experiment with this disc. However, after 3 playings, I have at best mixed feelings about it. It sounds not so much like jazz as it does some new age fusion with an element of jazz. One problem is the female singer whose voice and spacy singing style just is not to my liking.
