This review is from: Constant (LP Version) (MP3 Download)
This is one of my favorite songs, and to me it is tied with the radio remix of No One Else Knows for Building 429's greatest song ever. If you ever get a chance, read the story behind the writing of this album. There is a reason this album has greater depth lyrically and musically than any of their others. (And that does include what I've heard from Listen to the Sound so far.) I could go into the story of why this song means so much to me but that would take way too much space and time. I'll just say that this song combined with a scary life-threatening incident of a family member reminded me in a very powerful way that God is in control, and when everything seems to be going crazy around us, He is constant. We can't live without Him, He holds our lives in His hands. I will never forget the afternoon of May 24th 2007 when all that was going on and I was listening to this while looking out of the emergency room window off into the distance when I heard the line "lifting my eyes to see far beyond this misery". That's when it all clicked. Maybe I like this song so much because of all that, but I liked it even when I got the CD as a gift 5 days earlier. It's a beautiful song, much deeper worship than you normally hear from a regular contemporary Christian group. The lyrics and the music are beautiful and brilliant at the same time. This whole album has more of a depth and worshipful tone to it and I really miss that kind of sound from these guys. But they will still always be my favorite band. :)
