An overlooked absolute gem!, March 2, 2004
Laura King is a successfuil British woman who has never married but has had many interesting relationships with men. At age 44 she is told she is ill and does not have long to live. After the initial shock, she rallies and decides to give a dinner party to which she invites twelve men who have mattered in her life. From then on, each of these very different men has a chapter of his own. Moving, fascinating, amusing, we revisit their varied roles
in Laura's life. I was totally caught up in this book and in her
reminiscences, none of which were self-pitying; on the contrary, there were many funny incidents. I absolutely loved it, and
recommend it without reservation. When I told other women about it, their reactions were "I want to read that..." or "I wonder which men in my life I would include in my dinner party....."
Enjoy!
