Constantine's Revenge by Kate Walker
Harlequin Presents # 2082 - January 2000 The Greek Tycoons themed series The last person Grace thought she'd ever see again was her former fiance, Constantine. Two years ago she ruined all chances of a future with him when she failed to trust his fidelity when her step-sister, Paula accused him of trying to seduce her. When Paula confessed her lies, Grace tried to reconcile with Constantine but he would not forgive her and their wedding was off. Now he's back, and he still wants her. But he can never marry a woman who has no trust, so he suggests that Grace become his mistress. Grace can't fight their chemistry and she wants more than anything just to be in Constantine's life, in whatever way he will have her, hoping that some day their relationship will be more. But Grace had no idea how ruthless Constantine could be. There are moments when you just want to haul of and slap the arrogance off of Constantine's face and then there are moment where you wonder how he can continue to hide his intense feelings for Grace. He is often cruel though he does explain himself in the end. Grace shows backbone in the end when she realizes having the man she loves in her life at any cost to herself isn't enough. Ms. Walker has a lovely flare for story telling. This was an enjoyable love story, though some may find Constantine too alpha.

Not a very good book,

This review is from: Constantine's Revenge (Harlequin Presents, #2082) (Mass Market Paperback)
Grace Vernon meets up with her ex-fiance at a friend's birthday party although she tries to avoid and ignore the attraction Grace end up taking Constantine home with her and they make love. Grace immediately thinks this is the re-starting of their relationship and they will soon marry. Its really hard to understand why Grace believes this considering the reason she and Constantine broke up was because Grace believed her stepsister's lies that Constantine had an affair with her stepsister despite the fact Constantine denied it. Grace did learn the truth later and went to tell Constantine thinking they could just pick up where they left off in fact Grace is stunned that Constantine didn't want to get back together then. And she's still doesn't understand why Constantine doesn't want to marry her. Perhaps it was because the woman he was going to marry didn't trust him enough to believe he didn't and wouldn't cheat on her. But Grace doesn't understand this even after Constantine repeatedly explains it to her. Why Constantine would still be interested in her after this point I spent the rest of the book trying to figure out but never could.
