4.0 out of 5 stars Some advocacy, some analysis, January 23, 2011
By
This review is from: Constitutional Politics: Essays on Constitution Making, Maintenance, and Change. (Paperback)
I've only read a handful of the essays here, and as with many edited volumes, it's a mixed bag. What struck me was how some essays had a dual personality, with both advocacy and analysis. For example, Macedo's defense of liberalism struck me as vague, but his analysis of the benefits of permitting religious minorities to thrive really changed my way of looking at the First Amendment. I get the sense that this book won't be known for any stand-alone essay, but rather for a few nuggets of insight like that one.
