This CD is the best of Buarque's carreer. The title track is a contundent social claim, using only a few words. Other tracks, such "Valsinha", are pungent love songs. And the tunes are very, very gorgeous. Masterpiece is the right word to describe this work.

When you are in business you are supposed to grow more mature. This is very difficult for Chico Buarque, who 30 years ago was already one of MPB stars, still fighting the (now long dead) military government.

You have a mix of political (Deus lhe pague), quotidian (prize-winning Construcao), lullaby (Acalanto) and romantic (Valsinha) in one of his best works

Great album, worth having! Although the music might seem a little strange at first to someone unaccustomed to the sounds of Brasillian music, i definetly recommend it. The melodies are beautiful, Chico's voice is very pleasant, and the lyrics are great - do try to find a translation you you don't know Portuguese, it's worth it!

Great album! I had the original LP many years ago and wanted to hear it all over again. Probably Chico's best ever.

This is absolutely one of the best albums to come out of Tropicalismo. My question to any readers is that I bought a copy around a year ago, but the sound cuts out for a brief moment on a couple tracks. Is this the master tape, the CD product itself, has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Not only for the music, but for all the historical period of Brazil at that time, Construção, is one of the five most important albuns of brazilian music!
