The best book on contextualization out there,
By
This review is from: Constructing Local Theologies (Paperback)
Having studied philosophy, theology, and the history of Christian missions, I am glad to recommend this as the best single book available on the topic of local theologies. Even after 25 years this book is still relevant and penetrating. Schreiter's sometimes heavy prose has a purpose, and is well worth your thought. Of special interest to many readers will be the sections on the varieties of local theologies (including contextual theologies), and his section on varieties of theories of theological knowledge, or what he calls 'sociology of theology'. A must read for anyone interested in the area of how Christian theology takes root and develops in new contexts.

While some of the material can seem verbose, overall I enjoyed this reading and found it to be a valuable resource. Schreiter does a great job at explaining various concepts.
