This review is from: The Construction & Operation of Clandestine Drug Laboratories (Paperback)
I've read the book 3-4 times and I really like it. It gives a lot of tips on clandestine labs. If you like chemistry, you'll like this book.

if you are "academically" interested then this book is pretty good stuff, but if "someone you know" is considering the application of any of its content then you/they should be aware that a lot of fester's stuff (although i'm not positive on this one specifically) has been criticized, and in a few specific cases picked to pieces in places like alt.drugs.chemistry on usenet - for it's accuracy and the value of the actual application of some of his instructions. It'd be worth doing some search engine research to see where people have challenged his advice as sometimes misleading and occasionally dangerous.

Good food for thought, but slightly outdated.,

This text is a good primer on what laboratory equipment is essential and desirable. There are proposals given on how to construct most of the necessary equipment. Quite a lot of detail is given to proposals to keep a laboratory safe, and out of sight and smell. There are also some sections on monitoring the activity of authorities by evesdropping with a radio scanner. The book is beginning to show its age however since quite a bit of focus is put on techniques of improvising one's own glassware. The author's primary supporting claim is that glassware is a "watched" item. This view seems a little paranoid/outdated since the advent of procurement opportunities such as Ebay. However, some of the larger glassware devices described are perhaps interesting, in the "scaling up" section.

Ideas Are A Good Thing,

I bought this book (and will buy many others on similar subjects)
becuase of a self righteous book burner on this sight reviewing another book. She doesn't want anyone to learn how to make drugs and explosives. So in response Im going to read as much of it as I can get my hands on. HA! Suck it, up. This book, for what it is, is good. Well written and decently illustrated. It shows how to make a few peices of lab ware, key notes and tips on lab hiding and operation. It's really just a book of cliff notes, tips hints and precautions. No real chemistry at all. Make a seperatory funnel, fume hood, and my favorite... the ram proof door. That is a good idea... but if I might add... you could always hide the whole apparatus by hiding the auto springs inside the door. Any way... the author even says that the book is just a list of ideas and warnings. Worth reading though...something for everyone. As he says, a lab can be made for survival, resistance or medical reasons as well. I think the author is genuine, sincere and dang well concerned with the well being of others... makers, users and enforcers. He's got my support.

-Pros: 1)The book gives a generalized brief overview 2)lists some good reference material 3)Some novel ideas 4)Great philosophy for deterrence and incognito regarding the ensuing communistic metamorphosis of our allegedly free nation 5)The best learning experience you could gain from this book is how to begin to act and carry on a secret identity. (However you would again just be dampening your sponge.)-Recommendations to reader: If you have the time you can get this info other ways. If you don't have time and this is the first piece of literature you have had the opportunity to have exposure to, by all means read it. Other wise if you have the time, money, and a strong desire to learn and be thorough about it then see the list at the bottom of the page for much more in depth research, "Customers who bought titles by Jack B. Nimble also bought titles by these authors." [Note to Author: I mean no disrespect to the author. After all I haven't written a book, but from a readers stand point you could use some more critiquing.]

No room on the shelf for this one,

This book is aimed at creating a major industrial sized clandestine lab. This is not one for the closet chemist. It's short and it's outdated.

Interesting,
This review is from: The Construction & Operation of Clandestine Drug Laboratories (Paperback)
The book has some good ideas for the novice chemist. But does not go into enough design information. If I wanted to build my own materials this is a good book for ideas but the building designs need greater specifications.
