This is a combo-bonus edition which includes the "Making of a Period Bed" and "Making an 8-sided Pencil Post." Hands on visual instruction in the shop with Charles Neil. This slightly edited for time DVD shows you the mistakes that can be made as well as how to fix them. You will get the sense that you are in the shop watching everything going on. After years of reviewing articles and videos as well as TV shows, we know how to show you what is important and how to accomplish it because we do woodworking and craft fine furniture every day and have been doing so for the past 15 years.
About the Actor
Charles Neil is a self taught furniture maker. Living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia he has crafted fine furniture for his national clientele for the past 15 years. A few years ago he began teaching short, instructional classes locally and from those classes he has built the "In the Workshop" series. His work has been published in books like "Custom Source Book: A Guide to 125 Craftsmen" by Kerry Pierce and published by The Taunton Press in 2001 (available on Amazon). He was included in Early American Life Magazine's Directory of Traditional American Craftsmen for several years until he no longer had the time to submit to this journal. Many local and regional publications have written about him and his work. Unlike other furniture makers that publish articles, write books, etc., his time has been spent in the shop crafting and learning. Charles Neil's furniture is in such demand that he operates on a 12-24 month lead time and therefore had to cease teaching classes. As the demand for these classes continues today and technology has come so far, he now self-produces instructional DVDs for everyone, not just the local guys and gals.
