While there are significant amount of literatures that address issues of sediment and erosion controls, erosion due to construction has not been addressed often enough. In light of the rapid global development, this timely book provides construction engineers a comprehensive overview of construction site run-off problems, regulations and prevention measures. Guidance for subsequent erosion and sediment controls has also been presented from an engineering prospective to the readers. The recently published book, Construction Site Erosion and Sediment Controls Planning, Design, and Performance, is a work that will effectively educate those in engineering schools (and beyond) about erosion and sediment control. I was impressed since I consider the authors to have extensive exposure to the intellectual aspects of EC/SC problems. Few of us have enough experience to call ourselves experts. I however, proclaim Bob Pitt, University of Alabama, Shirley E. Clark, Penn State University, Harrisburg, and Donald Lake, Erosion Control Specialist from New York to be experts in the EC/SC field. They have written what is the finest work available to educate future and current engineers that there is more to sediment control than silt fence, and more to erosion control than hay bales.
