5.0 out of 5 stars This book is well written and very well researched
I used this book when replacing a roof and also when building a set of stairs in a barn...I am not a professional builder but the book is clear and easy to understand...my next project is a set of stairs for a basement and I know I will consult this book again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good basic reference
This book was referred to me as a good basic reference to woodframe construction principles and it fulfills that nicely. Although dated it covers all the basics of sound contruction principles needed for the small project I have in mind. Good resource for someone inexperienced with building wood structures and needing some fundamental guidlelines.

Although an old book as books go, the information is accurate, drawings very good and well worth the money for a amateur carpenter.

This book cover many construction trades, not just one. The book states that the navy builder is all of these, not just one specific trade and that's why. If you want an a to z type of book, this is it.
