4.0 out of 5 stars Good sophomore album from Eiffel...
I was rather surprised to find that Eiffel 65 had made a second album...this CD has gotten no attention here in the States, and I'm not aware of any plans for a stateside release in the near future, either. That's a shame, because Contact is just as good as Europop.

My biggest complaint upon listening through is that there weren't any immediately great songs like Blue...

I was rather surprised to find that Eiffel 65 had made a second album...this CD has gotten no attention here in the States, and I'm not aware of any plans for a stateside release in the near future, either. That's a shame, because Contact is just as good as Europop.

My biggest complaint upon listening through is that there weren't any immediately great songs like Blue. The first single, Lucky in My Life, isn't even one of the better tracks in my opinion. But Europop only had one hit single, and I liked the whole CD anyway, so the lack of a huge single doesn't ruin this for me. It could kill sales of the CD, though, especially in a music scene that is already overrun with similar dance and electronic musicians.

Eiffel 65's sound isn't hugely different from their first album. The effects-laden vocals and snappy synth lines that defined their sound are still present, but there are also a few moments of a more mature sound, such as the chanting intro to King of Lullaby, which reminds me more of ambient music than dance. As with Europop, the songs tend to drag on far too long (the CD checks in at a hefty 73 minutes), but the 17 songs are all distinct and offer a nice mix of upbeat and happy music and slower, melancholy songs.

The lyrics aren't really the focus here, and they tend to be repetitive, but the songwriting does seem more mature than on Europop. There's nothing like that atrocious tribute to Playstation this time around.

If you're a fan of Eiffel's music, try to get an import copy of this CD...it's surprisngly affordable here on Amazon, and this CD is unlikely to reach American shores.

5.0 out of 5 stars They've done it again!, April 1, 2002

If someone told me to choose between "EuroPop" and "Contact", I wouldn't be able to decide on which one is better. They are both great.

The only bad thing about this cd is that it will not work on computers. Seems that they can't protect CD against MP3 makers and ditributors, so they decided not to let people listen it on computers at all. Bright people, aren't they? HA! Let's thank BMG for that. ALL TOGETHER:

"THANK YOU BMG!"

I remember when Europop first came out. I told all my friends I could not wait for E65 to come out with a second album. After a year I got tired of the Europop CD, and put it away. I rediscovered it about 3 weeks ago and have not been able to put it away! I searched amazon, and what do you know! I could never find the second album because it isn't in America! I bought ContAct! off amazon by a seller because I was not sure if I wanted to pay over 20$ for a cd I was not sure about. As most know, not ALL the songs on Europop are the best. So I was sceptic about this CD, wondering if it was going to be a repeit of Europop. How more wrong could I be? The depth of the songs are much deeper. The techno and beats are amazing! The singing is fantastic! Less vocoder, but it sounds beautiful. I have to admit, when I first put this CD in my computer to listen to it, I was at first dissapointed. I was hopeing for songs that would instantly catch my attention and I'd be like "Omg I love this song I can't live with out it!" but only a few showed up (Lucky in my life, World in the world, Dj with the fire, and Kind of luliby). The second time I listen to the CD I totaly was into each and every song and they got me dancing. The songs need to grow on you I guess. I can't live with out any of them. I love them all. There is not ONE SONG on this CD I do not like. Every Single one is just as good as the one before it. This CD is highly recommended! For all E65 Fans, Dance fans, Music fans in general! Stop reading this and buy it, now!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This album ROCKS ... 110 Percent!!, December 10, 2001

If you've listened to Eiffel 65 or haven't ... you should definitley pick up this album because the songs on here are
amazing. Lets just say I went out to get this cd, listened
to it and as I listen to it more, totally grows on me!
I've listened to it so much, the songs are just great.
One of the type's of music, I would never get sick.
Sorry to say but I think Euro-Dance is way better then
some American music like Britney or N-Sync(...)!
Not to offend any Americans, I don't think
American music is the best plus it's more rock orientated
compared to the variety of music you can get in Europe.
There are fast, slow and songs with an awesome beat!
I recommend: Lucky (In my life), New Life, I Dj with the fire,
Crazy, Morning Time, Life like thunder, losing you, Journey
and World in the world. So if you want some different dance
music, with great style... go pick up Contact, you won't regret
it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Contact was well worth it!, October 20, 2004
By
This review is from: Contact (Audio CD)
Much like a lot of people, I was a little skeptical about the fact that Eiffel 65 could top their debut album- boy was I wrong! Before I purchased "Contact" a few weeks ago, I listened to all of the songs via 30-second sample and was satisfied with what I heard, so I thought I'd give Eiffel 65 a shot and eventually bought "Contact". There are very few tracks on this album that I skipped because 3/4 of the songs on here are very enjoyable and are easy to listen to. Eiffel 65 has done another fantastic job at delivering us with great music. It's just a shame that "Contact" got very little to no promotion at all. Man, people don't know what there missing out on! Let me just sum the songs up real quick:

Songs that I loved:
- "Lucky (in my life)"
- "I DJ With the Fire"
- "Back in Time"
- "World in a World"

Songs that I liked:
- "One Goal"
- "New Life"
- "Johnny Grey"
- "King of Lullaby"
- "People of Tomorrow"
- "Losing You"
- "Brightly Shines"

Songs that were OK:
- "Crazy"
- "Morning Time"
- "Life Like Thunder"
- "Journey"

Songs that I didn't really care for:
- "Far Away"
- "I Don't Wanna Lose"

As you can see, there's only two songs that I really didn't care for, but "Contact" is still an exceptional album. I recommend it to anyone that wants to listen to great music- key word is music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Matured the sound and lyrics, but took the fun out of E65, June 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Contact (Audio CD)
I became a fan of Eiffel 65 in 1999 when I heard their infectious pop tune "Blue", so the day I heard about their album, "Europop", I immediately went out and bought it. I LOVED it, it was great, it was fun, and it was a lot of feel good music. Near the end of 2000, I heard about their newest single titled "One Goal" from their sophomore album "Contact", and after hearing that song, I sort of lost hope for them, but it wasn't till I heard the next single "Lucky (In My Life)", that my hope for the boys quickly skyrocketed again. So I assumed that the whole album would be similar to Lucky, but I was wrong. The album is great, its really good music, but in a strange way, its sort of depressing, its definitely no Europop. Contact starts off good with Lucky, and afterward, everything is kind of slow, not very dancy, or fun, just good though. I mean, the lyrics are great, the messages are good, and the music is wonderful, but it just doesn't have that same quality to it that we once heard on Europop. On Contact, there is nothing like "Dub in Life", "Blue", "Hyperlink", "The Edge", "My Console" or "Living in a Bubble", its a new sound. Hopefully we'll see the boys go back to their roots for the next album. All in all, I still wasn't disappointed by this one. Heres to next time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD I've bought, February 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Contact (Audio CD)
I first heard Eiffel 65 2 years ago with Blue, and I've been hooked ever since. As for this CD, if you liked Europop, you'll love Contact - Contact is many, many times better. Eiffel 65's sound has really matured over the past 2 years. With the exception of 2 or 3 tracks, every track on this album is different, both from each other and from the "traditional" E65 sound. The lyrics are a lot more spiritual, and are presented with more feeling. You'll hear a variety of different musical genres blended together, and the result is a very catchy and unique sound.
Best Tracks (in CD order):
Lucky
King of Lullaby
I DJ With The Fire
Crazy
Morning Time
Johnny Grey
Journey
World in the World

Overall, even if you're not a huge fan of Europop, dance, or electric music, you should still enjoy this CD. Driving around with my friends listening to this CD, they all enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A style that 65 owns, November 4, 2004

I had purchased this CD about two years ago after much listening to there first CD Europop. I loved the mix of electronic sampling and vocoter enhanced singing. So when I found out about this CD I went on a quest to buy and listen to it for myself.
I was surprised to find that Eiffel 65 had changed and evolved by leaps and bounds. If you have ever actually listened to some of there songs you should notice that there is normally a message or two underscored behind the beats and tone of the song that usually makes one think or feel. The feel of Contact is much more based on internal dilemma (Looking for a "New Life" or how "Lucky (In My Life)" a person is) where Europop was much more of an external CD, dealing with concepts such as nonconformity (Blue) or how money is the root of sin (Too Much Of Heaven). What this difference makes for is more of the same style of music but a much more personalized and intimate feel(plus 95% of the time the vocals are not distorted to much, a problem that seems to get in the way with Eiffel). I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes Techno, regardless of if you disliked Blue or what you have heard of Eiffel 65. There simply is no one who does it better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy, postive, and just plain fun!, February 3, 2006
This review is from: Contact (Audio CD)
As a fan of Europop, I recently got my hands on the follow up, and I enjoy it even more. I admire these guys so much for their positive outlook on life, stuff you usually don't see in the music of today. And I never tire of Jeffrey Jey's vocoder-enhanced voice, either. The songs are pretty simple and repetitive, but this only makes it more easy and fun to sing along with. They certainly have a great talent for this type of music.
While this group isn't for everyone, the length of this album is quite generous and should have you singing and dancing for quite some time.

4.0 out of 5 stars DJ with the Fire, October 25, 2005

I enjoy the the songs "I DJ with the Fire", "People of Tomorrow", "Life Like Thunder". Those particular songs have an upbeat that you can't stop listening to. It keeps you going throughout the day if you're tired. I recommend you listen to them while driving. I've listened to their 3rd CD. I can't understand the itallian on most of the songs. I hope they come out with a 4th CD and release it in the US unlike the 3rd album. Anyways, dance the night away!
