Book Description

January 1, 1998
And so began the most astounding journey that former Los Angeles Times journalist Philip H. Krapf had ever embarked on in the 62 years of his life. In these early-morning hours, Krapf found himself whisked aboard an alien spaceship where he spent the next three days peacefully indoctrinated into a fascinating new world by extraterrestrials called "Verdants."

What he learned there was that these alien beings, who have been observing Earth for 1,000 years, have decided that the time has come for humankind to be invited into the Intergalactic Federation of Soverign Planets. Hundreds of prominent world citizens have been, and are still being, recurited to serve as emissaries to help smooth the way for the eventual extraterrestrial--terrestrial contact that is planned to occur by the end of the first decade of the 21st century.

1.0 out of 5 stars FOR THE 80% WHO BELIEVE IN THE TRUTH, April 18, 1999
This review is from: The Contact Has Begun: The True Story of a Journalist's Encounter with Alien Beings (Paperback)
Bought & read it yesterday. Entralled by wishful thinking, yet appalled by the use of "truth". This journalist should have submitted his story to the rag publications - not to be in the category of "author". Noticed some blatant tricks of the novel trade, whereby names (when scrambled about) spell out clues to the meaning of the story or character: Gwantelmipsa can unscramble to "a wet sampling" or "I want sample". The first initial of each of the 11 aliens (on the committee)spells out "dark meeting" and the initials of all the committees (pg. 147) when put together, spells out "CIA species of hope" along with such words as "spaceship", and "spoof". Verdant/servant(?). Much wordplay to disclaim his event. Lots of unanswered questions and (in the face of an immense UFO community of people who HAVE lived through contact)a hard-to-believe slap-in-the-face response to his amazing event: "My life has not been transformed..." Food for thought: would "absolute intelligent" beings choose ONE journalist to write a very thin book to sit among the thousand of UFO books, in hopes that we get a global message? (Wouldn't they choose a group from around the globe to unitely undertake the "white paper"`project?)

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Read & Interesting, But Fact or Fiction?, April 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Contact Has Begun: The True Story of a Journalist's Encounter with Alien Beings (Paperback)
If what is written in this book is true, I will wish I would have given this a five star rating. There are two things which give me a glimmer of hope that this may be true. The first is Mr. Krapf's solid background with the L.A. Times. People with solid track records usually don't flip out on us. The second is the fact that he has give us a timetable. We're going to know in a relatively short period of time whether Mr. Krapf had the most fantastic experience a human could ever have & planet Earth is in for quite a treat, or if he was having a very boring retirement & needed some attention. It doesn't make sense that he would interrupt his peaceful & well deserved retirement with the ridicule & shame of a charlatan! Nevertheless, I am still inclined to believe at this point in time that Mr. Krapf has engaged in deceit, or has become delusional. I sure hope I am wrong! If some prominent individuals in the near future start talking about a huge spaceship the other side of the moon housing a species who call themselves Verdants, I will, of course, be able to change my mind. It goes without saying that this story needs much corroboration! Even still, I recommend the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars There isn't just one answer out there., April 8, 2000

This review is from: The Contact Has Begun: The True Story of a Journalist's Encounter with Alien Beings (Paperback)
I read this book in July of 1999. I found Mr Krapf's account interesting and encouraging and I admire his courage in following through and writing this book. I thought he told his story in an honest, direct, and non-sensational way. Like many other readers, I sincerely hope this account is true. I don't believe he is perpetrating a hoax and I don't think he is crazy. Also, I hope we don't "flunk" as a species and get bound to this planet for who knows how long. I'm 42 years old and I would love to see major, peaceful changes occur on this planet.

I am a psychologist and I have read extensively about the abduction experience because I believe something real is happening and I want to understand it's impact on people. I just read through all the other reviews. I suspect we will never know the whole complex truth about the various species visiting our planet from other worlds. Verdants don't seem to interfere with the work of other groups, so similar looking humanoid beings may be doing genetic research, or all kinds of things the Verdants don't feel responsible to address. This is only the very tip of the iceberg in terms of the information Mr. Krapf said would be released. I'm waiting, right along with the rest of you.
