This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!
Kasey G
With this reissue, fans get what we want--the album PLUS all the 12" mixes, single mixes, AND a bonus b-side that is just as good as anything on the album.
Daniel W. Kelly
Too bad because it's that good, and certainly should have been the single released after DARE ME.
gassy goon

Funny, when I was working at a `record' store back in 1986, as CDs were ushered into our inventory, many of them arrived already as bargain bin titles, and this album was one of them. This virtual extension of the huge hit Breakout is pretty much going to appeal to fans of that piece of synth drenched electronic pop perfection. While "Dare Me" was a hit, other songs like "Twist my Arm" and "Pound Pound Pound" should have followed but didn't.

With this reissue, fans get what we want--the album PLUS all the 12" mixes, single mixes, AND a bonus b-side that is just as good as anything on the album. I am thrilled to have the extended mixes of Twist My Arm and Back in my Arms on CD at last, since they haven't appeared in digital format before. Now, isn't it about time a deluxe reissue of Breakout is released with all the 12" mixes AND the one track that was eventually removed from the album to be replaced by I'm So Excited as bonus tracks???

CD sounds fantastic--I don't hear anything that sounds like it was mastered from vinyl either.

Track list:

Twist My Arm
Hey You
Pound, Pound, Pound
Back In My Arms
Burn Down The Night
Bodies And Souls
Contact
Dare Me
Freedom
I'll Be There (Single B-Side)
Dare me (12 Dance Mix)
Twist My Arm (12 Dance Mix)
Back In My Arms(Uk 12 Dance Mix)
Dare Me (Single Remix)
Freedom (Single Edit)
Twist My Arm (Single Remix)
Dare Me (Instrumental)
Twist My Arm (Instrumental)

The Pointer Sisters' album CONTACT has been reissued on CD by Big Break Records and BBR is staying true to form with this release. Like other long out-of-print albums of the Pointer Sisters, some which have never been released on CD (So Excited! and June Pointer solo Baby Sister) and a re-reissue of Special Things), CONTACT is lovingly remastered for quality sound, contains 8-extra tracks, and has booklet with extensive liner notes written by reissue associate producer Christian John Wikane in Jan. 2011 and pictures from "Contact" photo-shoot.

Released in 1985, CONTACT was the Pointer Sisters follow-up to their hugely successful album "BREAK OUT," which introduced the sisters to a younger generation of radio listeners like myself, and became an instant favorite of mine.

According to the liner notes, many of the song writers that contributed to the success of "Break Out" were called back to work on this album and even though there's extensive use of drum/synthesizer machines on some tracks, it doesn't sound dated at all -- listening to it today.

There's not a weak song in the bunch! Each sister gets a turn at singing lead and the songs are upbeat dance songs. The only ballad is the Anita led "Freedom," which is a hauntingly beautiful cover of the song from the movie Moscow on the Hudson.

Well, this is the Pointer Sisters' album that was released right after "Break Out". It's a great album and it is hard to decide which is better, "Break Out" or "Contact". Surprisingly, this album is out-of-print and extremely underrated. DON'T FORGET this album did go platinum! Anyway, about the music. Let's take a look song by song.

1. "Twist My Arm"-Great song with high energy. It's easy to hear Ruth's deep vocals in the refrain, (If you wanna hold it, If you wanna show it...). Very danceable! Anita has lead vocal (#83 pop)

2. "Hey You"-A different kind for the Pointer Sisters. They don't usually sing about the world. That is the topic of this song. The melody is simple but it grows on you eventually! Ruth has lead vocal.

3. "Pound, Pound, Pound"-Highly synthesized here! Great rhythms with the synthesizers. Great vocals and more high energy! Very catchy also! June has lead vocal.

4. "Back In My Arms"-A great love-power ballad. As the melody repeats at the end you can just see this being performed live in your head. A highlight of the entire album! Ruth has lead vocal.

5. "Burn Down The Night"-Interesting bass and synthesizer rhythms. This song sounds more like a freestyle dance than their usual new wave style. Still a great song! Anita has lead vocal.

6. "Bodies And Souls"-Catchy rhythms here! Very danceable and an interesting melody. June gives this song a lot of energy through her energetic vocals. You can tell the sisters have fun with this one. June has lead vocal.

7. "Contact"-The pounding synth-bass rhythm here is all this song needed to take it to the top! Again, lots of synthesizers. Great energetic vocals again. Ruth has lead vocal.

8. "Dare Me"-The biggest commercial hit of the album.
