Format: MP3 Music
John Vanore has an ensemble called Abstract Truth that contains some of the more remarkable musicians before the public today. This, his third album CONTAGIOUS WORDS, is just that - contagious. Rarely has a big band ensemble demonstrated such cohesive communication while at the same time having each of the members be solo quality artists. The album has eight remarkable tracks, six of them being compositions by John Dqvore and the other two are well known standards - 'You Go to My Head' and 'Neopolis'.

The performances are clean, well recorded and of the quality that burns on the mind long after each piece is played. As Davore states 'It's all about storytelling - experiences that bring us deeper into understanding ourselves and those around us. Music uniquely has the ability to touch us without the use of word or image...and in its abstract existence (the medium of sound) there is a truth in this means of conveying emotion and touching the spirit of the listener...CONTAGIOUS WORDS collects many of these stories and experiences.'

So off and running is Abstract Truth with some of the most exciting 'big band' sounds around. The members are so important that they all deserve mentioning: John Davore, trumpet and flugelhorn, Michael Mee, alto an dsoprano sax and flute, Bob Howell, tenor and soprano sax/bass clarinet/flute, Joe Cataldo, Sean McAnally, Tony DeSantis, Bill Pusey, Kevin Rodgers - all on trumpet and flugelhorn, George Barnett, french horn, Fred Scott and Larry Toft, trombone, Craig Thomas, acoustic and electric bass, Dan Monaghan, drums - with Ron Thomas, piano, Heather Fortune, flute, and Jim Daniels, bass trombone. They are all stars, but the project that comes out to the listener is the gift of the very highly esteemed John Vanore. Grady Harp, March 11
