A Tool for Students AND Professional Writers, March 30, 2000
This review is from: Contemporary Editing (Paperback)
Contemporary Editing provides a refreshing view of the role of editors in today's Internet economy. In addition to discussing the basic elements of superior editing, from grammar and punctuation to style and content, the authors provide readers with insight about serving news on the Web and in print with good judgement -- that is, how to pick out the real news and value for consumers.
As a communications professional, I found Contemporary Editing a valuable resource to have on hand along the side of my AP Style Guide, a book I find myself referring to daily. Reviewing the book from the viewpoint of a journalism student, I found the book also a good resource for learning the basics and achieving the skills necessary for today's up-and-coming news reporters and editors.
Because this book comes from a team of well-respected college professors and newspaper editors, I believe most students and writers will find the information timely and up-to-date.
