My university started using this book recently. I had an a fantastic Instructor. My instructor was using this book for the first time. I haven't used anyother book besides this and I liked it. Book contains rigrous proofs. We also had Maple labs to supplement the course. After going through the proofs I could do the exercises. There are 4 different categories of exercises. First are just plain application of what you have studied. Then ther is dicussion and discovery section. After that there is Working with Proofs and the last one is technology Exercies which requires one to use Maple, Matlab or Graphing Calculator. Overall the book helped me understand the subject so I have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars.

Contemporary Linear Algebra is by far the most difficult and challenging math class I have ever taken. I took it on-line, and I could not have successfully completed the course without this solutions manual. As with most math textbooks, only the ODD answers are given for the chapter exercises; HOWEVER, it gives solutions for both evens and odds for the chapter discussion questions. Another student in the class told us this manual was available. I used it as a starting point for figuring out the answers to the exercises as well as the weekly quizzes. Without it, I would have been totally and completely lost. I highly recommend it for anyone taking the class!

Must have book with Contemporary Linear Algebra lecture book. Amazon delivered the book to Canada within 48 hours using expedite service, just in time for mid-term test.

The book is not well written, and hard to understand. Not suggested for reading or reference. The problems are joke, easy, and is designed for student who doesn't understand math clearly. I suggest if you want buy the book for linear algebra buy hoffman/kunze. That book is a bible for linear algebra.
