Wesley McNair began as a writer of short stories and has published volumes of poems, essays, and two previous anthologies of Maine writing. A recipient of grants from the Fulbright and Guggenheim foundations, he has been awarded two NEA Fellowships and recently received his second Rockefeller Fellowship for creative work at the Bellagio Center in Italy. He lives in Mercer, Maine.
Short stories about life in Maine, both old-timers and those just visiting Maine (or from away). Well written and engaging. My favorites are, of course, those listed in the publishers' reviews as "other local writers"; Monica Wood, Cathie Pelletier, Lily King, Bill Roorbach, etc. Includes glimpses of Maine during the "other" ten months.
