I was expecting more than yesterday's idea of contemporary.
The sampling of visuals has a stale feel. Only one minor Kiki Smith? The interviews might be wonderful. I was too disinterested in the work to even care what the artists had to say. I guess if you are totally unfamiliar with last decade's art scene, and find all this new stuff too gyrating on your placid ruminations, you can dip in and wile away a rainy afternoon on what seems like a curatorial overview with mostly B grade visuals.

I was surprised by the depth and range of this book. The visuals are cold, yet contemplative. It's like a Michael Snow film in book form.
