5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised there isn't another review here, April 25, 2011
This review is from: Contenders: short stories (Paperback)
I'm a fan of Winch's poems, and I had a great time reading this smart, funny, sure-handed account of the complicated negotiations between these twenty- and thirty-something lovers and friends. An evocative portrait of the relationships of early adulthood--couples fall in and out of love, friends come together and fall out of sorts, characters disappear and crop up again--it's also an interesting account of life in 1970s and early 1980s Washington. The poignant title story (at 42 pages, more of a novella) is a standout.
