Book Description

079234734X 978-0792347347 August 31, 1997 1
Two concepts, in the interface of the philosophy of mind and formal ontology, content and object of presentations are central to the origin of both analytic philosophy and phenomenology around 1900. This work presents an analysis of these two concepts, based on a historical presentation and examination of texts written in the last decade of the 19th century by the 'founding father of Polish philosophy' Kazimierz Twardowski and the founder of phenomenology Edmund Husserl. The book has been revised to take account of the recent publication of Husserl's correspondence as well as new secondary literature. It also includes references to earlier philosophy and philosophy of language. It will be of interest to PhD students interested in formal ontology, the philosophy of mind, especially those desiring to acquaint themselves with Central European thought as a counterpoint to German idealism and life philosophy around the turn of the last century.

This review is from: Content and Object: Husserl, Twardowski and Psychologism (Phaenomenologica) (Hardcover)
Excellent exposition of the point of view of the founder of the Gestalt School, Twardowski. For those who are interested in the epistemological foundation of the austrian school, and particularly on its economic branch (Menger, Mises, Hayek), this book is very important.Because of the importance on the school founded by Menger and because a lot of economists (even libertarians)are ignorant of the philosophical ground that support Menger's thought to read this book is something obligatory. With Cavallin one can have a real guarantee of seriousness and depth and profound knowledge of the matters as well.
