Content...Right Where I Am,

This review is from: Content...Right Where I Am (Paperback)
The pleasure of reading the book, CONTENT...RIGHT WHERE I AM was all mine. After reading this reader friendly and Christian based tool, I found myself feeling less isolated in my feelings of discontentment. I realized that I was not alone. Prior to reading this piece, I felt a sense of guilt because I was not happy or in agreement with where I was in that season of my life. As I journeyed through this reading, I began to feel a weight lifted partly due to the testimony of the author but mostly because the book spoke to the very issues that flooded my heart. This book is a direct confirmation of God's word about us as Christians. The experiences shared by the author coupled with the self-help excercises compelled me to take inventory of my thoughts, expectations, wants, and desires. As I began to open my heart and be completely honest with God and myself, I gained a new found understanding the the word Contentment. I now know that I can find joy in the peaks and valleys of my walk with Jesus Christ. In addition, I can embrace each and every season knowing that God has a plan for me and it will unfold at the appointed time. As a human, we innately want to know all there is to know and we find confidence in what we see. However, as a Christian, we must really learn to experience our Faith. We must purpose in our hearts that we will rest in the fact that God is holding us close and that he will reveal our next steps as He sees fit. Since reading this masterpiece, I have learned to allow God to take me by the hand and show me all that He needs for me to see for my journey. I have learned to trust HIM in every area and not just some areas. As a result of prayer, continual worship and communion with Christ, and the self-help inventories found in the reading, I have yielded to GOD everything that I tried to make happen on my own. I am resting. I am truly CONTENT...RIGHT WHERE I AM.

There are so many people that are goal-driven, but not purpose-driven. We strategically and effectively plan our days to tailor to our own selfish needs and wants.
In Joy E. Turner's book, Content...Right Where I Am, gives enriching stories and real-life experiences to see how we can be content where we are. However, we should not be content with who we are, until we uncover what God's will is for our lives. Moreover, we have the right to be content or discontent with our current circumstances, or to take the responsibility to pray (or call on God) to God to see our situation change. Joy explains the meaning of "faith." Her terminology of faith is beyond measure, where she gives an equation of faith equates to belief (trust in God) and add action (our obedience). Then, she tells us the acronym of JOY, is Jesus--Others--You. Her lovely name meaning these things, is the order of things, we are to abide in God's perfect plan to discover contentment. This is a must-read when you are not content in your situation right now! Dream 4 More Reviews, Adrienna "Dream Reviewer" Turner, Sweet Dreams!

ThiS book is a pretty good read, I enjoyed it. Not much that you haven't heard before. But it's always nice to know that someone else feels what you feel..and how they are dealing with it. The author's testimony was inspiring. I loved the prayers and it's likely I will print them and use them again. There are a couple of exercises in the book to get you started..again I've already done these, but they are useful again and again. I am not quite content..but I am sure I am well on my way!
