Although the first two albums, Foul Taste of Freedom and The Truth Hurts, are both masterpieces in hardcore fused metal with just a pinch of rap, Contents Under Pressure finds the band approaching the sound that they have carried on with for the next four studio albums, producing such cult hits and live staples like Crush, Shine, and State of Mind. Meskill's voice comes somewhere in between the first two albums, emcompassing the rawness of his FTOF voice while keeping the heaviness of his TTH voice, minus the (overwhelming at times) vocal distortion. The songs are extremely tight and well done, with an excellent drum sound standing out especially. Meskill's lyrics are some of the best he has ever written with this band, and having only 10 songs makes you appreciate them that much more....I've found that if the band puts any more than that on an album it tends to go dry for a portion. Perfect title for this album too, because it just explodes from the very beginning when you release it onto your stereo.

I knew Pro-Pain from their 1st cd and the heavy rotation of their song from it Pound for Pound played on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. Similiar in style and form to Suicidal Tendencies, on this album they break more from the rap-metal to put out a harder rocking rock/metal album. Good production too, surprising at this point to hear in an album from 1996. I remember seeing this album around then, but Pro-Pain got lost, as with many others, in the grunge movement of the 90's. Great album still 17 yrs later.

I still dig this cd. It's got good melodies and rhythm and it's well put together. If you like anything close to that with metal/hardcore sounding vocals, you'll enjoy this cd.
