Excellent band, unique voice.,

Great band. Saw them live, and they made a damn fine accounting for themselves. Has influences from Smashing Pumpkins, Bravery, and old 80's alternative. Lead singer has a very recognizable, very unique voice.

A Very Pleasant Surprise,
By
This review is from: Continental Divide (Dig) (Audio CD)
I saw these guys a few days ago in Boston with VNV Nation, and they (along with the other opening bands) were a very pleasant surprise to have be a part of the concert. Usually when I go to a show, I sit twiddling my thumbs and rolling my eyes during all of the opening acts, and I was more or less expecting to do the same until VNV came onstage.
I was wrong. All of the openers were great, and overall everything before VNV was almost as good, if not just as good, as VNV Nation themselves. If you're sitting there, reading all these positive reviews but still doubting, well, don't take our word for it. [...]. And for the love of god, DON'T just judge these guys on their somewhat scene/emo appearance (unless you like that sort of thing). They are so much better than most of the garbage floating around these days. I can't speak for the entirety of this album. I picked up the 7-track demo disc for $5 at the show, and all of those tracks are excellent. I haven't heard the rest of the album, and I really wish I had the money to buy it. But I don't, and I can't. If any of the band members read this at all, I just want you to know that as soon as I get some extra spending cash, it's going towards supporting you guys. Trust me, doubters. For such a young, budding band, these guys are really full of a lot more talent than you expect. Their music is all very well put together and it sounds very clean and professionally done, surprisingly so for a practically unheard of band's debut album. Oh, and just as a side note, I got to meet the bassist, Becca, and just so you all know, she's absolutely beautiful. As is this music.

Continental Divide..I never leave home without it....,

On the treadmill, working those abs or walking my dog....there is a song for every mood and time. Great lyrics, a chorus that will not leave my mind and it urges me to move and dance. I received the CD as a gift and I have not stopped listening. I didn't think it was going to be "for me" but once I listened ...I was an instant fan. Buy it for yourself or give it as a gift. This band is going to stick around!!!

Essential Listening,

"The Continental Divide" by War Tapes is going to be a classic album. A complete work of art, clever lyrics, great vocals and driving guitars. Neil Popkin's vocals recall the best of Morrissey. "Dreaming of You" is a must hear track.

I purchased two cds - one for myself and one for my son who loves their music. The CDs were wonderful and now we all cant wait to see them when they come to Fort Lauderdale in July. I play the CD exclusively in the car.

Simply put, I just can't stop listening. My favorite song on the disc changes each day depending on my mood. If you only like country music, this one may not be for you...but for the rest of you, pick up this disc and introduce yourself to War Tapes. It's the dankness.

Best CD of the year,

I've watched this band grow and mature, and this CD incorporates all their best work. Start to finish, The Continental Divide is superb album and if you haven't caught them live, I recommend doing so.

You won't get these songs out of your head,
This review is from: Continental Divide (Dig) (Audio CD)
Not often an entire cd is worth listening to but War Tapes have included 11 plus bonus 12 songs that you won't fast forward.. I love the harmonies between brother and sister.. and the words are gut wrenching and honest.. I'm wearing my cd out already!!!! Get your own, you'll love it.
