Product Description

Continental modeled the Grand Prix 4 Season Road Tire on the Grand Prix 3000, and added puncture-resistant Duraskin fabric to prevent sidewall damagea result of experiences at the Paris-Roubaix race. Continental also modified the compound of this German-made tire to remain grippy for year-round use. Duraskin reinforces the sidewall without significantly adding to the weight of the tire, and statistics prove that Duraskin significantly reduces the chances of a flat.

Best tire EVER!
Oregon G
They have a lot of traction where it counts, but they also seem to be very low resistance while rolling.

So far I've put 400 miles on this set, no flats.

I ride around 3,000 miles per year on some pretty rough roads. I've had a set of these on my bike long enough to completely wear the tread off the tires and have only had one flat that I can remember. Traded them for a very nice set of tires from a different manufacturer for the summer season and had 4 flats in one month. I put my old Continental Grand Prix 4 Season tires back on, and will run them until the new ones I've ordered arrive. If my new set performs as well as my old one does, I will continue to run these tires as long as they are available. I highly recommend these tires!

I also needed to get rid of the cumbersome stock Bontragers that came with my Trek so I purchased Michelin Krylion tires because they were supposed to be durable. I started to flat every week so I did some research and decided to try the Continental 4 Season tires.

Well, 500+ miles after installing the Contis I've been flat-free (fingers crossed). These miles included riding though chipped and tarred streets, potholes, debris, glass, etc. - not bike-riding friendly streets for the most part. These tires are low weight but have a high tpi count giving them exceptional "grippyness" and low rolling resistance. I love the feel and will be purchasing them for my next set (hopefully not any time soon).

Bought these to replace the stock Bontrager race lite tires (aka: lead weights) on my Trek 520. They roll beautifully and are very supple; you can feel the pavement underneath you. I've always run Conti's GP's on my bikes but I really like these tires. I also weighed them when I got them and they were around 270 grams a piece, so they are light too. I won't run any other tire but I do run them a little under max pressure because I feel they ride better and I randonneur so the comfort over the long haul is important to me.

Best tire EVER! I'm an oversized rider compared to most. I'm 6'3" 200lbs. I ride 5-6 times per week with mileage averages at 35 miles per ride. These tires are the best for getting you out and back, period! Rain, hot pavement, stones, screws, glass, bolts, sheet metal, and whatever else is on the side of the road doesn't seem to come close to causing a flat. I use to change flats with my Michelin tires at least 4-7 times per year. I have had ZERO flats since switching to Conti's 4 Seasons. Do it! You won't regret it.

Performance of the tire feels less of a training tire and more towards a very durable race tire. Sticky rubber holds well in bad weather. The vectran adds a layer of bullet proof durability yet the tire doesn't weigh much more or lag in road feel.

It's been in the market for years and yet to see a competitor tire compete against is for durablity, all weather ability, and road feel.

With all of that said. I would say it's NOT the tire to put on your race bike on a sunny nice day on a groomed course. That would be grounds for a featherweight racing tire. But if your looking to put a lot of training road miles in all sorts of weather and road conditions this is by far the best tire out there to avoid flats and yet feel as though you have a sporty performance tire. Local racers here in Oregon go to this tire for multiple races that include gravel roads. The average race tire shivers at the meer word 'gravel'. Conti 4 seasons flex's and says "bring it on".

Your bike will love these new shoes!

This tire works great and I have not had any issues in 1630 miles. I was getting flats frequently on my older tires (they were getting warn and were thinner racing tires) so I purchased these and have not had any issues at all. These tires are fantastic, I will use these all year.

Update on 1/11/12:
I now have 2100 miles on these tires and somehow got a small puncture in the sidewall. That was my first flat the entire time I had these tires, though! Will be buying these tires into the indefinite future.

I've had these tires on my road bike for nearly a year and a thousand miles so far, so I feel qualified in saying that they are without a doubt the nicest all-around tires I've ever used. I put these on my road bike which I use for both extended rides (40-120mi) on paved roads as well as commuting in the Seattle area. On a good day, they roll amazingly and are clearly faster than the stock tires that came on my bikes as well as other all-seasons that I've tried. When the weather gets ugly, they just keep on gripping. Even in strong downpours, I have complete confidence in the corners. You can feel the grip, and the confidence it's given me has actually improved my mental edge and made me a better biker. I highly recommend them.

I recently purchased a used (but immaculately maintained) Raleigh R600 road bike. A nice Ride for the $200 spent; full 105 group, or gruppo for the so inclined, but the tires were a little long in the tooth, as well as 700x23's, which, for me being 6'1" and 230lbs, I wanted a little more meat to roll with than that for a broad cross section of riding conditions. A local bike shop here in Seattle recommended running 700x28 on the back, and 700x25 on the front, so I found them on sale online at rememberdelaware.com and have put about 800 miles on them on a mixture of rides from 35 milers in the country, to numerous 10 to 20 milers around Seattle, up hills, different road surfaces, etc. These tires are great, smooth rolling (I run them between 100 and 110psi)and they handle fantastically. No flats, no spin outs, just nice riding, I highly recommend these tires. I have used Specialized Armadillo Nimbus tires in the past with great success also, but I found the Continentals to be more comfortable. Roll em!
