Book Description

Where was God? Bobbi Molinsky's comfortable life is shattered when a forwarded email from her husband's account lands in her inbox. The email teases, "My whole evening is free again." After an angry confrontation with Chuck, she is left with the broken remains of an eighteen year marriage. Where is God? Bobbi agrees forgiving Chuck is the right thing, the God-honoring thing to do, but it leaves her empty and isolated. Teaching her second-graders is a burden. Taking care of her boys saps all her energy. It seems God Himself has walked away, leaving her to struggle alone. Is God faithful? Bobbi can't deny the transformation in Chuck, but genuine forgiveness requires trust, and trust is a risk she's not willing to take. Can she let go of her deepest, most primal fears and save her marriage?

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling, complex and uplifting January 31, 2011

I loved this book! Contingency kept me anxious for more as it unfolds the oh-so-many lives affected by adultery. Brilliantly real, I felt the pain of each of the characters as they fight to save their family, their marriage, and their relationship with God. I would recommend this book to ANYONE who has had turmoil in their lives, or even if you haven't, you will feel hopeful and peaceful in the knowledge that God has control and will walk with you through anything.

3.0 out of 5 stars In God We Trust... May 23, 2011
Contingency: A Novel is book one in the Covenant of Trust series.

Bobbi Molinsky, a grade school teacher, leads a wonderful and comfortable life. She has a husband she adores, two wonderful sons, a beautiful home, wonderful friends and family. Bobbi is living the dream, until the day she receives an email that had somehow bounced from her husbands email account. Opening that email brings her world shattering down around her. Her husband of eighteen years has cheated on her.

Chuck Molinsky is an up and coming junior lawyer who believes he needs all the pomp and show that goes with being a successful lawyer and that includes a certain image, he buys himself a BMW, he wears designer clothing and he is sexually attracted to his new under associate. Chuck walks right into Tracey Ravenna's black widow trap and he succumbs to her machinations and becomes obsessed with having her. She has become a drug to him and he believes he can have his cake and eat it to. Until the day he receives the call from Bobbi, and he realizes the choices he has made thus far, have been all wrong and he has strayed from the path he once wanted for himself and his family.

Tracey Ravenna is the gorgeous thirty year old redhead who practices law, and is quite impressive and most career orientated. Seeking the same in a man, especially one as prestigious as Chuck, she works her primal sexual nature to weave a web that he is sure to be caught up in.

Phil Shannon is the minister who keeps Chuck and Bobbi on the correct path to redemption and salvation. Through the grace of God, the two search themselves and each other to come to the right choice for everyone involved. Bobbi has severe trust issues and it doesn't look like Chuck is going to get a second chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome first novel by amazing new Christian author January 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Contingency (Covenant of Trust) is the first book in the Contingency series. It is also the first novel by Christian author Paula Wiseman and let me just say, she is off to an awesome start! I normally don't read Christian fiction (romance), but this book has made me a fan.

The first chapter starts off with the heroine finding an e-mail to her husband from another woman. By the way, the OW is a POW! The book goes back and forth between past and present so that you get a glimpse of their lives before the betrayal. The hero was a selfish jerk during the majority of their 18 year marriage, but turns his life completely around. It is a very emotional book (my favorite kind) and the scripture throughout the book is very uplifting. One of my favorite aspects of the novel is that we get the heroes feelings and emotions along with the heroines, which isn't normally what happens. Along with the believable HEA the book reaffirmed for me that anything can be accomplished through God.

Books 2 and 3 will be out in approximately spring and fall of 2011 and will be a continuation of the life of Chuck and Bobbi(H/h)and their family. There is a summary of Book 2 at the end of Contingency that starts 7 years later with another emotional trial for Bobbi because of her husband's betrayal. OMGosh I cannot wait!!!!! Paula Wiseman is now an autobuy for me.

If you pick up Contingency thinking that you are geting a book about a husband cheating on his wife and how they work through their problems then you are WAY off base! This book is so much more than that! That might be the main theme going through the book but it is certainly not the only one going on. As Paula says, she writes about "real life" and this is as real as it gets. Very seldom do you find a family that is affected by infidelity that is only dealing with the one issue of infidelity. As Paula so brilliantly shows throughout the pages of this book, she explores not only how this sin affects a marriage, but how it affects the children, the "other woman", co-workers, extended family and friends and fellow churchgoers. She beautifully portrays the wisdom of God's word, not just by quoting it in her book, but by having her characters study it and live it out. She also shows their struggle-which to me is "real life". And, just like your life and mine, everything doesn't turn out perfect-but Paula masterfully shows us how a relationship with our Saviour will guide us through no matter what we are facing. My favorite part of the book: getting to the end and realizing there was an excerpt to the NEXT book!! I can't wait to read more and more from author Paula Wiseman! If you enjoy reading fiction that accurately depicts today's issues and the way most "real life down to earth" people deal with them-then grab these books as soon as possible! May God continue to bless your work Paula!

Writing Stuff-

I started writing almost as soon as I left my "day" job. Well, truth be told, I've been writing since I was a kid. I modeled my favorite stories, or wrote sequels to them. I wrote a full length novel while I was in college, and it currently resides in a dusty folder under my desk. I pursued writing for children and sold a story to Highlights Magazine. After a writing exercise, this plot began to form and this story began to nag at me, so in July 2005, I started work on the book that became Contingency. In the meantime, I had several devotional pieces published in Cup of Comfort books and one in a Tyndale collection called Life Savors for Women.

God is behind all of this. He has engineered every step I've taken in my life- from college, to work, to bringing Jon and me together, to my children, to the stories and the doors opened (and closed) in pursuit of publication. Every experience passes through His loving hands, approved and designed to bring about deeper Christ-likeness in me and glory to God. I have a deep passion for God's word because I know it's absolutely true and relevant.
