Editorial Reviews

2012 EP from the Las Vegas Alt-Rock quartet. The songs on Continued Silence are just a taste of what's to come from Imagine Dragons, who combine their synth-laden rock sound with the Hip Hop sensibilities of producer, Alex Da Kid (Eminem, Rihanna). The alchemy that results when these creative forces get together is nothing short of explosive.

I randomly stumbled upon Imagine Dragons when I was checking out news for the upcoming album from The Killers. The first time I listened to It's Time I was floored. Such a beautiful, uplifting sound. I immediately bought the album and I've been keeping an eye on these guys ever since. Imagine Dragons are destined for great things. You can just feel it. They have such raw talent and such a unique sound that it would be a crime for them NOT to go on to do big big big things.

"Radioactive" is totally awesome. I'm not a fan of music's newfound love for electronica but somehow Imagine Dragons are able to pull it off. If I had to make a guess it would be that they don't allow the electronic to take the lead, it's there but the vocals are really in charge.

"Demons" is yet another uplifting song in a long list of uplifting songs from these guys. This is a GOOD thing. These guys are able to pick me up at the darkest times and give me a boost. This song is inspirational.

"On Top of the World" has this really cool, cheery, almost Lion King vibe to it. It's hard to explain but the background vocals and the pace, mixed with the drumming really have this Lion King feel. Trust me, once you listen you'll get it.

"Round and Round" is great, it is more of a rock song than the others. It has sweeping sounds, impressive percussion work and reaching vocals. This is a Stadium Rock song through and through.

"My Fault" is an introspective love song. This isn't my favorite Imagine Dragons song but it's still pretty good. If you're missing someone you can pretty easily relate.

"It's Time" is THE Imagine Dragons song. This is the one that will be remembered as a classic when these guys hit the big time. I am so in love with this song it's not even funny.

Not long ago, Foster the People entered the music scene with a 3-song EP. A year later, their full-length debut shot them to massive sales and radio play. Imagine Dragons' CONTINUED SILENCE EP is similar; this is the EP that comes just before a massive breakout major-label album. The band has other past releases, but this is probably the best place to start for newcomers.

This release is 6 tracks of solid alternative pop marked with a heavily percussive electronic rhythm section. Many of the songs here are marked by heavily melodic verses and choruses. The songwriting, while relatively simple, is concise and engaging. It's not inventive, but it is very polished and refined.

Fans of Foster the People, Neon Trees, or AWOLNATION will probably find a lot of stuff here to enjoy. Recommended tracks for sampling: "It's Time" and "Radioactive."

WOW!! I was blown away by this great studio debut EP! What a wonderful unique and enjoyable sound! I had never heard of these guys but am already anxiously waiting for more from them. Every single track is incredible; not just good but great! A little over produced maybe but I have heard them play acoustically and unplugged and they still sound great. Get this EP now! I promise you will not be disappointed! LOVE IT!!

I'm not writing a fancy review for this EP. It deserves one, but I don't quite have the eloquent words to express how I feel about this piece of talent. On first listen, I automatically fell in love, which hardly ever happens anymore with the music bands are putting out. If you like Paper Route, you'll love Imagine Dragons. Just buy this, ok?

I'm new to Imagine Dragons, so, let's take pity upon my soul when I make this next assumption...

For a debut EP Imagine Dragons bring it.

That is right. I assume this is Imagine Dragons first record. Having said that, what Imagine Dragons does well, they do extremely well. Yet when they falter, and they do, they still make the song listenable. That is the one thing I noticed while browsing the reviews of Continued Silence, most people seem so excited for Imagine Dragons that they're willing to overlook minor hiccups. Trust me, I get it. This EP is fantastic, raw, and very fun all the way through. In six tracks Imagine Dragons show the type of potential bands work their entire careers to achieve. However, of the six tracks only four are incredible.

I will single out two tracks though, my introduction to the band, It's Time, and the opening track, Radioactive.

It's Time almost seems to be a trend track. It was recommended to me on Pandora, on my fun. station. The first time it came up I didn't even notice it, it blended in with everything else I was hearing that day. The second time, however, I really heard it. There's is a really acoustic shine about it with a tremendous chorus that really grabs your attention.

Radioactive is my favorite track. Period. With almost a dubstep charm to it throughout the band creates a song that could very well catapult them to the mainstream (to be clear, when I say mainstream I don't mean that in the Britney Spears/Justin Beiber way). From the charasmatic verses to the awesome chorus, I have nothing bad to say about this. Front to back Imagine Dragons did an impeccable job.

Demons and My Fault are the two tracks I haven't really gotten into.
