After playing the game at a friend's house, I was looking forward to buying Portrayal (also licensed and published as Identik). The gameplay is great for party type situations. I usually like more strategic games and cringe when the likes of Apples to Apples is pulled out, but Portrayal is a blast to play for all types of people.
Therefore, I was very disappointed when I received my copy and it looked as if someone had stomped on the timer. It was made of very cheap plastic, pieces could be heard rattling inside, and the on/off switch was pushed up inside the device. It came with a piece of paper saying that the batteries may need to be replaced, so they were giving two extra, but it only actually gave one. The batteries were not really necessary however because when I opened the timer up it was clear that half of the wires were severed.
The packaging was really good in both the box and on Amazon's part which makes me think the timer was put in the box this way. The black "privacy sleeve" was made out of cheap paper and was already scuffed. The rest of the components were of decent quality including the d10 die. I wish the publisher had not skimped on the quality of the timer and privacy sleeve on what is otherwise a great game.

Amazon is sending a replacement, but based on the quality of the components I would suggest picking up the English version of Identik published by Asmodee. It is the exact same game and comes with an hour glass instead of the cheap, poorly made Chinese timer.

One of my granddaughters (age 11) got this game for Christmas and we have been playing it frequently. Her little sister plays with us and she is only 8 years old. I think the game is great fun as well as educational in that it teaches children to listen carefully and also to describe something in detail. One person picks up a card with a detailed illustration and gives a description of it to the others who then have to draw it. When time is up, you are graded on how many details you have incorporated into your drawing correctly.

This is one of our favorite family games. It is great because all ages can play together and everyone participates the entire time. The premise of the game is that one person describes a silly picture that they are looking at on a card while the other people draw the picture that is being described. Once the time is up, 10 things about the picture are revealed (the describer did not know what they were) and the artists and describer earn points based on how many of those things were in their picture.

This game is fun for those of us less talented in the artistic realm, however, our family prefers the Identik game slightly more. This set did provide more drawing options for us tho.
