WALLS OF FIRE WEBZINE: 4.5/5 --WALLS OF FIRE WEBZINE: 4.5/5

Product Description

****AMAZING TECHNICAL THRASH / MELODIC PROG METAL**** Prototype returns with their second release and as before it's metallic.....it's technical, it's melodic full on Progressive-Thrash Metal to be precise. These guys are an amazing talent, they have a unique sound in the world of Metal, very heavy, ominous, fast technical and raw! Adding in progressive elements that they intersperse throughout their songs which bring to the overall sound a very nice melodic catchyness about them similer to what Opeth and Nevermore bring to the table, Nightmare Records has this title for North America. AGGRESSIVE THRASH MELODIC PROG METAL An incredibly talented US-metal band, verging on the fine edge between aggressive power-thrash and delicate technical prog-metal. With their distinct sound Prototype have created nothing short of linking the style of Metallica and Forbidden with that of Rush and Nevermore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Follow-Up To Amazing Prog-Metal Debut, April 15, 2007
The first Prototype album, "Trinity", was hugely influential for me; with powerful vocals, incredible progressive song structures and heavy riffs and bass, and an epic, science fiction-themed vibe and sharp production. Happily, "Continuum" delivers more of the same-with a slightly more hook-laden delivery that actually adds to the music.

I simply can't recommend this album enough for any fan of modern progressive metal. Tight, progressive and heavy riffs and epic song structures fleshed out with an interesting concept story about an alien invasion (?) by strange being intent on enslaving man. For those who were fans of the last album, the vocal style is still very prominent, but is even catchier and more hook-laden this time around-actually enough to remain stuck in your head for days. To be honest, it sounds less classic-era James Hetfield-ish than the last album, and more akin to,perhaps, the singer of Incubus. Although a bit different, it actually works quite well with the heavier material the band delivers on this outing, and is one of my favorite metal albums of the last two years or so. The guitar and rhythmn section remain tight and locked-on, and chunky, intricate riff after riff pour out of the speakers, with the addition of some eerie spoken-word samples and interludes illustrating the sci-fi storyline...an original and intelligent metal band...Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW GREAT FOLLOW-UP, July 19, 2006
By J. C Cheek "John Gray Wolf" (El Paso, Texas United States) - See all my reviews

When i first got this CD i was a little apprehensive, as Prototype had had a few member changes. WOW was i wrong, this CD rocks, and the production on it is solid. I guess that is what you get when you choose a label like NIGHTMARE RECORDS.

This CD has it all, the driving guitars that are a trade mark of Prototype, the tight, tight bass and drums that provides the backbone, and them the vocals, oh my god they carry the this CD. If you haven't bought this CD yet you better hurry it is going to be sold out fast. This is a must have for you progressive metal collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars SOLID metal CD, June 9, 2008
By Edgar Medina "Shinji" (South Florida, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've looked for CD up and down at all my local retailers and couldn't find it anywhere. That's a shame because this is an extremely solid metal release.

The trend now-a-days is metal must have either extremely harsh vocals or a mixture of post-hardcore screaming and singing. While I do listen to those styles as well it's refreshing to hear a metal band just sing and have really great instrumentation to boot, while staying very honest and truthful to the genre.

Check out the music previews and if you're into just no frills solid straight forward metal you'll love this album.
