3.0 out of 5 stars Handy mount! May 2, 2011
Verified Purchase
This mount will hold the camera in place somewhat well, if you are into drops and rock gardens kinda riding, this wouldn't be your choice, since after some hard shaking the camera lenses will end up pointing down, I didn't want to tight too much the nut thing, it looks sketchy and kinda fragile.

3.0 out of 5 stars Handle bar mount February 2, 2011
Verified Purchase
This unit holds the Contour Video very well and is easy to use once mounted. Problem is the mount attaches to the handle bar with with bolts. It would be easier and faster if a thumb screw system was used so you could quickly remove the mount. The slide mount that attaches to the camera is impossible to remove once inserted in the camera. It is so hard to remove, I left it on the camera and have to use the large plastic thumb nut to attach and remove the camera from the mount which remains on the handle bars because base is bolted on. Now when I use the camera on the helment mount I have to leave the slide mount from the handle bar mount attached. When you go fast the extra mount adds noise to the auido recording.

If redesigned with thumb mounting bolts and an easy to remove slide mount and I'd give it 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bar mount, not limited to handlebars. October 5, 2011
Verified Purchase
Fairly solid mount can be attached to handlebars or other bars. I tested on my rear triangle and only the largest bumps could move the mount. Not perfectly solid, but better than anything else so far including tripod clamps. Attachment is two philips screws which take a while if you are changing mount locations. Allen would be more convenient for bikers who typically have those tools on them. If you invested in a contour camera, you should have this mount and explore some more interesting shots.

2.0 out of 5 stars all plastic construction creates horrible rattling noise September 20, 2011
Verified Purchase
I mounted this on my bicycle handlebar and tried to make a video. The bike mount seems to hold my ContourHD securely with no play. I even wrapped an old inner tube between the mount and my handlebar to reduce vibrations. No matter what I tried, there is a horrible rattling noise in all my videos (I tried several times). This may not be an issue for you if you like to add your own sound track to your videos, but I don't do that.

I do not have this rattling noise with any of the other Contour mounts that I own. I use the vented helmet mount and the tripod screw mount. For bicycle handlebar use, I can eliminate the noise problem by using velcro'ing a tripod screw to my handlebar and attaching the Contour tripod mount to that. And the Contour tripod mount is much cheaper than the handlebar mount.

I really expected more from the Contour handlebar mount, especially for the outrageous price (for a piece of molded plastic).

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great on ski pole March 22, 2011

Wish I had time to do a video review...I mounted my Contour HD to the skinny end of my ski pole, and the footage is AMAZING. I can aim it toward myself and shoot myself from front, side, above, etc, or I can spin it around and it's so much easier to aim at friends than when you have it on your helmet. I can see that it's aimed right and I'm catching them perfectly, and they're all loving the footage, too. Great camera, and great mount for ski poles, so should work fine on just about any pole/tube.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit slow mounting process that pays off a good fit December 15, 2014

For the sake of versatility perhaps they use a huge pair of screws that will take some time bolting in and out. maybe a bit more oval could give the versatility for different diameter, hoping that the pad will absorb the gap and maintain the tightness required.

The ease to redirection the camera on flight and retighten is the best thing this has.

The long time needed to bolt in and off and the fact that the same mount obstaculizes the bolting process, requiring a long drive it{s the turn down on this.

Is there any handlebar mount with quick release clamps?

It can be mount into the handle bar only

It give you very good angle controls - to any angle you want

It give you easy access to the camera to turn on and off and change the angle while riding

The only problem is the location on the handle bar - The video result is very jumpy and not stable

the best place to put the camera is on the body of the bikes - Over there you got less jumps and angles changes while recording

The second best place is on the helmet - On the side - the most stable video and give you the ability to record what u see

3.0 out of 5 stars Technically it works on handlebars, but it vibrates like crazy
even when it's screwed on tight and the road is pretty smooth, the footage from this thing looks mediocore. I would say go for the strap one they sell now instead.
