4.0 out of 5 stars Works Well and Beneficial
I've found the Contour Freedom cushion has worked very well for my needs. I need extra back support when I sit in my recliner. I'm sure that was not what it was designed for but it has, never the less, solved the problem I was dealing with. The message unit is soothing but not deep muscle enough to be of any real benefit to me personally; but there is nothing wrong...

1.0 out of 5 stars I will never purchase a Contour item again.
Recently, my mother purchased a birthday gift for me online--the Contour Freedom Back Massage Cushion. It was delivered directly to my home, and I received it a couple of weeks ago. I used it a few times, and I loved it. However, the last time I used it, it started slowing down, then stopped working. I replaced the batteries with fresh ones, and tried it again. It...

My only suggestion would be to taper off the top of the cushion to reduce the thickness. It's possible that feature is only a problem because of the manner in which I use it.

Over all I am very happy with product and would recommend it to a friend.

1.0 out of 5 stars I will never purchase a Contour item again., June 20, 2010

Recently, my mother purchased a birthday gift for me online--the Contour Freedom Back Massage Cushion. It was delivered directly to my home, and I received it a couple of weeks ago. I used it a few times, and I loved it. However, the last time I used it, it started slowing down, then stopped working. I replaced the batteries with fresh ones, and tried it again. It worked for a minute, then stopped. After that, there was no way to get it running again.

Because it stated on the box that the cushion was covered by a 1-year limited warranty, I went to the Contour website to find a way to contact the company about the defect. The site stated that the best way to contact Customer Service was through e-mail, and I sent an e-mail asking for a return authorization number so that I could send the cushion back. Two days later, I had still not gotten a response, so I called Contour. After navigating their phone system, finally getting a representative on the phone, and explaining my situation to her, she put me on hold for a while. Her response when she came back? That I would need to return the product to the store, not to Contour.

Why would a company not honor their 1-year warranty? What kind of company creates a product that doesn't even last 2 weeks? Contour didn't want to stand by this product, and I won't, either. You can bet that when I purchase a replacement massage cushion, it will not be from this company.

I think this is a good product with one exception. In order for me to get it to stay put in my chair I had to actually bypass the velcro and tie a knot in the elastic itself. That only worked for a short time and the darn thing started slipping out of place again. Unless you have a solid chair with no space between the seat and back, you may have problems getting the support to stay put. This was my problem. When I got it to stay where I wanted it to stay, it worked fine. The massage is very mild, but does help if you have the time to sit and enjoy it.

I LOVE this product. It is contoured so that it offers complete lumbar support and the massage feature is a real plus. Following major lumbar fusion surgery, I've had trouble finding a chair with proper support, but this cushion/massager makes almost any chair a comfortable one. I'm really sold on it!

I have lower back pain and had hoped that the contour of the pillow as well as the angle would help. After using it for only 2 days I found my back hurt more at the end of the day.

Based on reviews I knew the massage aspect of this product wasn't worth it but I do like the way it fits into my back and for that reason I would recommend it.

A very poor design that will not stay in place. It has a flimsy band that is supposed to secure its location. Also, the massage feature does not work. This is a very poor product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good support, poor on massage, November 6, 2011

Love the support on this cushion, works just perfectly for lower back problems. The massage function was very noisy when it did work, but ceased to work at all very quickly. Overall is not worth the money, but not a total loss because it still makes a good cushion.

I like the product, except the massage feature is really loud and not doing much. So, I am not using the massage at all.
Other than that I like the product!
