This is a very slick case. It's great. Looks good, protects good, and compared to the prices of other cases, it's a bargain.

1.0 out of 5 stars Exercise caution when ordering
The designation of iPods is confusing at best; there are model numbers, but which constitutes third generation, fourth generation, photo model, etc. is vague. I purchased this case for a 20 GB color display model (not designated as a "photo," but does display photos) and it did not fit. Half way into the case, the "required" plastic (cellophane-like) sleeve bunched up...

This is a very slick case. It's great. Looks good, protects good, and compared to the prices of other cases, it's a bargain.

My few complaints are small. For one, the belt clip allows the iPod to be held horizontally only. I'd have prefer a vertical clip. Second, the case comes with a clear cellophane wrap that you must use, otherwise the case will scratch your iPod when you insert it. I'd have preferred more than one of these clear wraps. Third, the bottom attachment that you have to snap back on to enclose the case doesn't seem to click back in perfectly. The fit is still tight but there's a fraction of a millimeter space left open. Fourth, the opening for the USB/FireWire port is somewhat difficult to open unless you have super strong fingernails. Using an instrument to pry it open will leave small dents in the plastic.

Overall, though, it's a great case. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Protection, March 4, 2005

Alright, I bought this thing after looking a million iPod cases. My main purpose was protection for when I was at the gym. This looked like it would do the trick.

So today I take it to the gym for the first time, and my hand gets caught on the headphone cord and the iPod falls off the treadmill and onto the belt and then launches three feet into a cinderblock wall.

I freaked out, thinking for sure that my iPod was dead. But lo and behold it was protected perfectly! Not even a scratch on the case! This is probably the best 16 dollars I have ever spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Case EVER, February 24, 2005

Best Case EVER!! great case that comes with a removal clip that is sturdy along with the hard plastic case that keeps the iPod secure. It also comes with a thin plastic sheet covering thing that you have to put on BEFORE you put on the hard plastic; this protects the whole iPod from being scratched by the case itself and also protects the scroll wheel while still allowing use of the wheel. I have ran with this case clipped to my shorts and it stayed there without slipping! I definitely felt the clip kept it secure. The only annoying thing with this case is that sometimes little tiny particles of dust get stuck between the iPod and the case. But this is only a minor thing that only matters if your a dirt freak. And also if you have an iPod dock you shouldn't buy this otherwise you will have to take the iPod out of the case; otherwise there is a perfect opening at the bottom of the case that allows you to hook it up to the cable to recharge or connect to your computer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great case, except for docking/speakers, April 23, 2005

I bought this case a month ago and love it. Once you put the iPod into it, there's no need to take it out (unless you want to dock it... see below). It's robust and gives you a good feel of protection for the iPod.

The only downside I can see with this case, is that the iPod does not fit most standard docking stations/speakers due to the plastic casing. This case is not designed for taking the iPod frequently out, so if you're planning on using it with docking stations a lot, this might not be the right solution for you. I have the Logic 3 i-Station, but have to take the iPod out of the case each time I want to dock it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but very close, April 22, 2005

I don't think there IS a 5 star iPod case. That said - this is about as close as it gets. If you have a 40 Gig iPod, you might as well go with the Contour Showcase. But if you have a 20 Gig like mine, this fits tighter and adds less size to the iPod. IMHO, it looks even more attractive than the quite awesome Showcase. (hopefully my product photos will post here)

The GREAT: the only case I've seen that enhances the beauty of the iPod rather than diminish it. It's as if your iPod was dipped in crystal clear acrylic; the resulting reflections and refractions are beautiful. It's quite a feat to deliver such protection AND such stylish appearance. It also adds very little weight and size to the iPods - oh you can get a lighter jacket or sleeve, but you won't get a tenth of the protection and style of this beauty. The sleeve (see below) even protects the click wheel while allowing full access, a rare thing in any ipod case.

The IMPERFECT: It's a slide-in case and as such, the risk of scratching the iPod is high. Contour's solution to this is a plastic sleeve that goes over the iPod before you insert it in the case. It's not a perfect solution. As you might expect, the sleeve starts to hang up and slip off the iPod as it enters the case. It took a dozen attempts to get it in reasonably well, but i never did get it snug. That leaves a bit of a wrinkly look to the click wheel.

And as others have noted, supplying a single sleeve with a web link to order more is kinda cheesy. Give me 3 in the box and raise the price $3 instead. I suspect they don't want you to EVER take the iPod out of the iSee and that is an option, but - I'd prefer some backup sleeves without having to wait on snail mail.

The belt clip worries me a bit - it seems like it could accidentally release from the case when bumped and let your ipod fall? But it hasn't happened.

The bottom line? At $20 this product is cheaper than most, better looking than most and more functional than most.

This case is wonderful. I put my iPod in when I got it and haven't had need to take it out. Fits snuggly and I love that it's clear, and everything is accesible. Very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Case, October 26, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee 20 Case for iPod (Electronics)
I've had many different types of cases over the years for various different products, but I've never had one that fit so snugly and I've felt so secure using. If you have a 4th generation 20 gig ipod, buy this case.

1.0 out of 5 stars Exercise caution when ordering, October 22, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee 20 Case for iPod (Electronics)
The designation of iPods is confusing at best; there are model numbers, but which constitutes third generation, fourth generation, photo model, etc. is vague. I purchased this case for a 20 GB color display model (not designated as a "photo," but does display photos) and it did not fit. Half way into the case, the "required" plastic (cellophane-like) sleeve bunched up and the iPod was impossibly stuck. The retailer I purchased both from had no idea of the incompatibility (Contourdesigns fault), and I was forced to use a hacksaw to break the case open and retrieve the Pod.

Be sure to check the thickness of your iPod model before ordering. If it is over 0.57", it will not fit. The case is made of a VERY strong polycarbonate material and I'm fairly sure I would have liked it except for the unfortunate situation resulting from the company's poor specifications of which model would fit properly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent case for the iPod, February 27, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee 20 Case for iPod (Electronics)
This is a really nice case. It fits very tight to the iPod and doesn't add much bulk. It's made of a very sturdy, hard plastic. I would highly recommend this item to iPod users.
