1.0 out of 5 stars Please do NOT purchase
I purchased the case before reading the reviews which was a mistake. The negative reviews of the case being extrememly difficult to remove were very true. Also most importantly, this case SCRATCHES your ipod mini. In order to put the case on, the plastic case rubs against my ipod and scratched my brand new ipod mini. Removing also added more scratches. Lastly, particles...

I bought one of these cases for my first generation iPod Mini, and then it would not come off. I tried everything but it was totally stuck. I took it to several local computer technicians and they were also unable to remove it. I thought about just breaking it off, but I did not want to damage the iPod's finish.

After several phone calls and emails with the company (Contour Design), I mailed the iPod and case to them so they could remove it. They discovered that my iPod was slightly larger than Apple's specifications, which is why it didn't work in the case, so it was not Contour Design's fault at all.

I was very impressed with the way that Contour Designs handled this unusual problem. I never had to wait to be connected, I always spoke with the same person, and he worked with me to solve the problem, instead of trying to pawn it off on someone else. If he had not offered me the option of letting them remove the case, I would have literally been stuck with the case and been unable to remove it from my iPod. Their customer service was exactly what a company ought to provide, but so often does not happen. In fact, they went beyond what they were technically obligated to do, and in doing so, they showed their commitment to customer satisfaction.

As it turned out, I had decided to return my first iPod because the new one with longer battery life came out right after I bought my first one. This made it necessary for me to get the case off the first one and to have it done quickly so I could return it within the 30 day refund period. Contour Design had the case off and returned the iPod (and a new case) using overnight express.

My new iSee case works perfectly with my new iPod and I am a very satisfied customer of Contour Design.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tight Fit, April 15, 2005

I would give this case 5 stars if it wouldn't have taken me an hour to get my ipod out. Too tight for my tastes. If you need to use any sort of docking station, forget it. You can't just snap this on and off very easy. Other than that, it's great. I was using it on a 6gm mini.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, but ..., February 27, 2005

... the only thing I don't like about this is that there's no protection for the click wheel. Aside from that, it's a fantastic case. So many iPod and iPod mini cases completely cover up the player. After spending that much money on your mini, why hide it? The clear plastic gives the mini a look like many other Apple components. Yes, it does have a tendency to get scratched, but that does't matter so long as what's inside isn't scratched. I also like the lanyard hole already cut into the plastic; I prefer to have it dangling around my neck most of the time rather than on a belt clip.

It also fits *very* tightly, and getting it on and off can be a hassle (and if you're female, willing to break few nails in the process; my fingers still smart). This thing doesn't fit into a dock, for those of you who use them. Those who don't use a dock should have no problems with this pretty little case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but pretty overpriced, June 6, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee-mini Case for iPod Mini (Electronics)
I brought this on Amazon for about $15, a price I consider somewhat overpriced considering it's a plastic covering. However, it does its job and there are no major cons, excluding the fact that the plastic is easily scratched, making your Ipod seem old. The case seems to fit the Ipod very nicely, not convering any of the buttons.

This fits my ipod mini (2nd generation) very nicely. Many other reviews say that it is very hard to take off, but i have not found it so.

There are two pieces. One is the casing and the second piece is a back plate that is the same shape as the belt clip that Apple provides you. You can take the back plate off in order to attatch the belt clip. The trick here is that you slide the ipod into the first case and then attatch the second piece, just like you are supposed to do with the Apple belt clip. When you want to take the case off, you must pull the back plate off (this isnt too hard, it snaps off) and then slide it out of the case. There is a slight flaw in this idea - if you take off the back plate too often, then this may either damage the plastic or the aluminum iPod casing.

I suggest that you shop around before you buy this. There are plenty of better options. However, this is still a relatively good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars iSee mini case fits its name!, April 30, 2005

This case is awesome! It has a space in the back for a belt clip and a hole for the charger thing (whatever you call it). You can see through the case perfectly and it matches any color you have. The case also fits securely and will never fall off. It takes some time to get it off, but you just gotta know the secret (which I know). It gets kinda scratched after a while, but atleast the actual iPod mini isn't scratched, and that's a good thing. The click wheel is out to the open and that's a little dangerous, but if you had something over it, it wouldn't work. This case is a very necessary accessory for your iPod mini!

Things I love:

the tight fit
you can see throught it
it has space for belt clip

Things I detest:

NOTHING!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars good one to get for iPod Mini - there's a trick to take it off., October 1, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee-mini Case for iPod Mini (Electronics)
I got this cover after reading about it that it gives trouble comming off. But i remove it frequently by using the small plastic USB connector cover provided with impressive packaging of iPod connector cable. Just push the iPod from buttom (from USB connector socket) with the help of USB connector cover and your iPod is out of the case.

It has been 4 months now that i had bought my iPod with the cover and still my iPod mini is scratch free. Thanks to iSee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent flush, simple design, April 11, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee-mini Case for iPod Mini (Electronics)
I gave this case 5 stars because it matches the styling of the ipod mini perfectly, while providing all the protection that I was looking for. I would have believed that this was an apple product. It covers the ipod completely, except for the top surface and a ring around the charging slot. The screen protection is flush, no funny contour shape protector. The case slid on easliy, but snug around the bottom end, providing just the right amount of grip. Most will prefer this only for its clear design, which shows off the mini well.

4.0 out of 5 stars iSee-mini Case for iPod Mini, July 29, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee-mini Case for iPod Mini (Electronics)
I was skeptical at first reading other peoples reviews about how your "ipod gets stuck in case" or it scratches easy and I have learned from using it, no your iPod will not get stuck and who cares if it gets a couple scratches on it. Its better that the cheap case gets scratched then you expensive iPod. It was one of the best items I have purchased off Amazon

1.0 out of 5 stars God awful, May 4, 2005
This review is from: Contour Design iSee-mini Case for iPod Mini (Electronics)
I hope the reviewer who said that Contour Design took care of their little problem was telling the truth... because mine's completely stuck and won't come out at all.
If that wasn't bad enough, it scratched my player on the bottom while I slipped it in for the first time. This case also does not allow for some car kits and mini home players to connect to either, because of it's thickness.
Believe me, I've seen a lot of cases for the ipod mini, and unfortunately got this one for my b-day... the worst one I've had to deal with for sure.
Your choice, save your money or end up scathing your mini...
