This review is from: Cases and Materials on Contracts (University Casebook) (Hardcover)
I have the 6th edition. When the semester started I found I was not on track with the class which was using the 7th, SO, I spent big bucks for the 7th ed.
Turns out it was thrown out money. Check the table of contents, there are very few new cases. In the beginning of the book some cases are just in a different order. In the first 200 pages, I had found 6 typos in the 6th ed. FIVE are not corrected in the 7th. $75-150 for the 7th ed. $3 up for a used 6th ed....... It's a no brainer, save your money. Spend $5 photcopying the missing cases in the library, or find them free on line. Sometimes, a new edition has important changes. This edition seems to be an attempt to kill the market in used textbooks for this course.

Very disappointing effort by the authors,
By Guillermo Palermo (iowa city, ia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cases and Materials on Contracts (University Casebook) (Hardcover)
I am a 1L and this book is so littered with errors it has become a running joke in our class. For an extreme example, take a look at Black Industries v. Bush - the authors can't even copy the cases right. Nor am I being overly picky. The mistakes in this book are so serious that it calls into question the professionalism of the authors.
Not convinced? Check p. 85 and the dissenting judges. Or p. 74, lines 9 and 12. Or p. 233 line 17 from the bottom. All of these are serious errors that affect a beginning law student's understanding. Some questions for the authors: * If this is the 7th edition, how bad are 1-6? * If the writing is this poor, how reliable is your reasoning in the notes? * Are you this sloppy with your law review articles? * What value does this book provide when we have access to WestLaw and study aids? This book costs $136 and is pushed on thousands of students each year. Don't forget the supplemental materials. Shame on you William F. Young, Carol Sanger, Neil B. Cohen, and Richard Brooks!

Legendary Contracts Book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Contracts: Cases and Materials (University Casebook Series) (Hardcover)
You probably have no choice whether to purchase this book or not as it is likely required and if it was not what in the world would you be doing buying one of these? Yet if you are required you are in luck. Farnsworth's book is legendary. The selection of cases hits all the right points from drunken farm sales, to conniving socialites, and a classic selection of King's Bench tales. Not only are the cases well selected, but the budding law student gets to read Farnsworth's wry commentary and always salient observations. The only downside is his inclusion of foreign contract law representing his love of travels around the world but this is a minor flaw. There is but one legend of Contract Case Books and his name is Farnsworth!

This is a law book that many 1L's will come across this year and years to come. Having said that if you're reading this review you probably are shopping for a law book because it is on a reading list for a class. When I purchased this book through Amazon, with the expedited 2 day shipping, it was still cheaper than other comparable law websites (lawbooks.com, barristerbooks.com etc). Having said that the book was the right edition and brand new for a price that was slightly less than what I would have paid at the bookstore (considering I was in NY and the law school was in MA that wouldn't have been prudent). So if you are wary of buying used; stressing day-in-day-out whether the seller is going to send the book or if they'll send the right edition or numerous other problems that may run through your mind when purchasing a used book from an anonymous source without even seeing the product, then buy this new edition. You'll be happy to know you got a great product for a reasonable price. Plus without the notes or highlight marks that may distract some readers (present company included)

The book was delivered quickly and in good condition. However, I don't like its content, but anyway who would buy this book if it were not designated by a professor...

Came exactly as described. It appears i got lucky and the half-blood prince of law school owned the book before me. When i brief the cases usually my predecessor has every part already color coded; This is great for getting cold called in class! The package arrived on time and was in good condition.

The textbook I purchased was a little "raggy", but it was repairable(the cover was coming apart at the binding). However, the pages were in good repair, and with a little glue where the binder meets the textbook, it was still a great buy.

Terrible Contracts Book,
This review is from: Cases and Materials on Contracts (University Casebook) (Hardcover)
This book is organized in the worst possible manner. It's really absurd. If we didn't rely on this book so much in class, I would just buy Murray and ignore this book. It's pretty useless.
